The quote does make more sense when you mention his life, he basically talked about himself when he wrote the quote that even though he was aware that he and everyone he knew were going to die, he was still a drunk wife beater pos. Retrospectively speaking, I think it's kind of obvious that acknowledging everyone's going to die is not going to bring us world peace because it's sort of a nihilistic statement that can justify living carelessly until the end
