I'm curious if most of you (despite suicidal thoughts and looking gray at everything) see any positive things in life? Are there any examples of what fascinates you?

I personally think that everything is cruel around me, but looking more at nature enchants me with how it was all created. I love plants, flowers there are a million species of such, each one is different, different petals, colors....
Animals, too, full of different kinds, species, eloped. Everyone has their own survival instinct, they know what to do, how to protect themselves, how to survive. Appearance...
The sky is also beautiful, different weather, rain, snow, sunny. Different panoramas... Sunrise and sunset, wonderful views. The night is also beautiful surrounded by millions of shining stars along with the moon in the lead

I find it intriguing, but also very wonderful. Wbu?

The concept of being happy with life itself, it mystifies me how people can be "happy" with their lives, without any conditions.

For better or for worse, suicidal people are a minority, but it feels so alien for me to see people just... being happy with the lives they carry. They don't have to be euphoric, they don't have to loudly proclaim they love life, but I see their smiles, I hear their voices, and I find myself unable to truly relate to it, I feel completely disconnected from them. In a way, it makes me wonder: if I took a different path in life, would I be as happy as they are? Or, was my mind always doomed to not being able to enjoy the small bits of happiness?

Not really
Nothing interests me much
Just to mentally exhausted to care or want to learn about anything
Death fascinates me I guess if you consider that a positive example
I have always dreamed of learning what it feels like to die

Rainbows are the main one for me. Even when people explain why we see them, they still seem miraculous. šŸŒˆ

I guess lots in life still fascinates me. I still cling on to my childish sense of wonder.

I'm still undecided whether I believe in any kind of spiritualism to be honest. I definitely don't like orthodox religion but I sometimes wonder if there are things like pre destiny, soul mates, spirits, psychic phenomena, because of my own or family members weird experiences.

I suppose that's one thing that makes me question whether I am even depressed. I think suicidal thoughts are so often attributed to depression but- if I still have some interest in life, I still enjoy things, I still function pretty much normally- how severe can it really be?

Just because I'm a walking piece of shit doesn't mean I don't see interesting things.
Even I see positive things ;).

Among others:
- Space: I have always been interested in this topic. The amount of space and possibilities is stunning
- Nature: I really like lonely walks. In particular, I like to go to the forest or to a meadow.
I like to sit and watch the landscape.
The weather and season don't matter to me.
I only avoid very heavy rainfall and very strong winds.
- Sports: I like football. It has been with me from the beginning of my life.
- Computer games: Games have also been present since the beginning of my life and I have always loved to lose myself in them.
- Reading about technological curiosities, information, news, methods, etc.
I'm no expert, but even if I have absolutely no knowledge, I like reading about such topics.
- Music: I can't imagine life without music.
In practice, I only listen to classical music, "lofi music", phonk and ambient in every possible form (I also include ASMR).
- And... there will be a few other things

The world definitely has interesting things to offer. Even for someone like me.

The thought of how people just walk around acting like life makes sense, never questioning the randomness of the universe like the fact that some people are born with conditions that doom them to a life of misery or the fact that we don't choose the family we are born in, some are blessed with good families and others not so much, or the fact that nobody really knows how everything came to be and why we are all here.

I think I feel the same as you.
Nature is what I think is beautiful. I'm fascinated by mushrooms. Not just the hallucinogenic ones, but the normal ones and the food ones too. They're not plants or animals. They have insane systems underground that communicates to each other. They appear and disappear so quickly.
When the trees start budding in the spring.

I love animals the most. I wish I was one.
I wish I was a cat. And I guess this is the first time and place I feel comfortable saying that for real. I always say it as a joke. But ever since I was a child, I would go to sleep imagining my hands changing into paws and waking up a cat.
I always wanted it more than anything.
I hope in the next life I am one.
I don't even know if I believe in that.

No . nothing fascinates me about life or this world.the Only thing that fascinates me is escaping the evil prison world and evil prison life

Non-existence forever, Being non-existent and reaching that is fascinating , nothing else is

You never did anything to deserve it . But then If you were kidnapped put in a prison torture dungeon. Used and Tortured regularly. But they leave food and dumb youttube there . Would you be worried about being fascinated or enjoying that food or garbage or would you see it for the evil it all is and try to escape?

I don't want anything from this evil world. I only want to escape it

Cartoons, movies, and games. The music from the games I like also tends to enrich my life.

Sometimes watching just how low the bar can go in society is also truly fascinating to me. Like a car wreck can literally be captivating to watch so that applies to many other disasters.

Music fascinates me.
It can create such beautifully pure feelings just with the harmony of sound, frequency and rhythm, without any words or images.
Such a deeply beautiful feeling.
A feeling that takes me in completely, embraces me and tells me, look how beautiful you can feel.
And it is so infinitely variable, so complex.
How I would love to be just this musical feeling, with the lightness of wind.

I used to love going to our botanical gardens. I'd take pictures of all the plants. I also used to love scuba diving, being underwater was so peaceful and you can see some stunning and interesting things.

These days I just watch series. Haven't done any of the other stuff in years. Series and interacting on sites and chat places are fine for me. I see 2 friends 1 night a weekend and we have drinks. I don't want to do anything anymore.

My friend started a group on FB about things you see on your walk and invited me to join the group and it looks nice. But even just walking around the block is too much for me.

No, existence is beyond futile and undesirable to me. I find it the most horrific tragedy how life even exists at all, I wish nothing existed in the first place, existence truly is just an abomination that causes nothing but harm. It's disturbing how one can potentially suffer so unbearably in this existence yet not die, I despise existence and it's truly devastating how I cannot just have the option to just fall asleep permanently.

I never would have wanted or chosen existence, I simply just wish to be unaware for all eternity instead, only death comforts me and can bring me peace, I have no interest in suffering and there is endless potential to suffer in existence. To have the ability to exist is incredibly burdensome and I'm disgusted by how humans force this burden onto others causing so much meaningless suffering as a result, existence itself is the true problem to me.

Science. The natural sciences, to be specific. The endeavour to understand the world is something I can actually appreciate on a visceral level. Possibly the only thing that's left.

Many, many, many things. Too many things to write them all down.

I'll just leave this Sylvia Plath quote here, I think it encapsulates everything I could say.
"I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited."

Also, I'm loving everyone's answers.

All of the responses here are so diverse, it's interesting. Pretty neat that we can all be so different in interests and preferences, and yet all roads lead to the same destination.

I really like learning languages, despite my cognitive abilities being in the toilet now due to my various health problems. I have been learning japanese for years and mandarin for several months. There are so many people you can't meet if you only speak one language. Think of the wealth of books, movies, games, and various other pieces of media and culture hiding out there that are off limits to monolinguals. There are entirely new places that open up to you if you can manage to master another tongue.

Sure, it may not be useful in a strictly financial sense, but learning for leisure rather than trying to add clout to a CV is one of the only things that's ever given me a sense of wonder or purpose. I am a curious person by nature. Because of this pesky trait, I even sat a neuroscience degree even though it isn't a pragmatic choice of field.

Many, many, many things. Too many things to write them all down.

Sylvia Plath is one of the best authors of all time imo. She perfectly captures the discontent of how it feels to want to experience everything the world has to offer, only to be cornered into a position where your health and circumstances forbid you from truly doing anything.

The universe, I'd love to be able to visit the rings of Saturn or the moons of Jupiter.
Watch a star go supernova or see a black hole with my own eyes.

Instead I'm stuck here on this miserable grey island in the north Atlantic.

I recently made a trip to the American Rockies and took about 600 pictures of mountains. I stopped and looked at every plant, watched every animal. I went to two bird reserves, a bug museum, two dinosaur museums, and a planetarium all in 6 days as well as did a few hikes. Nature is incredible and I wish I could just lose myself in it.

i like math and computers science electronics programming a fascinating fact about computers is they can theoretically be used to brute force every possible image including everything you could ever do within the universe the problem though is that it would take the age of the universe and more atoms than there are in the universe to store all the images computer are good for brute forcing things i just wish we had a trillion decimal place computation instead of the 10 decimal place computation we have today 1 billion instructions a second

number of pixels to the power of the number of colors gives the total number of images for a given image with width height and number of colors
