Help Is there any trick to partial hanging?

I'm trying to ctb via partial hanging. I'm planning to try it with a necktie tied to a doorknob. Is there any trick to this or is it just a matter of trial and error? Anything someone should know before trying?

Think the trick isto make sure you get the carotid artery compressed which will knock you out. Im afraid ill mess up partial so going with zipties.

There's no tricks. Except that you need to first practice partial to fight off your survival instinct before going for ctb.
