The facts are that 9/10 people who've been revived saw nothing. but some say that if there's a god that he/she intended for those individuals not to see beyond the vail of existence as it wasn't their time. I'm thinking it is all made up. But I wish it wasn't.

Is there a afterlife? Yes, now what type or whatever it might be is something that is unique upon each and every person. I have always thought that this life is a stop on a long road of many adventures and it might include religious overtones and it may not. It also might be a new life and/or experience that, I right now, might not even be able to comprehend.

I never could grasp the aspect that this life is of such that it is one and done.

Now everyone has their own thoughts on a matter of this nature and that is great! I have always thought that it takes everyone to make a whole and everyone's thoughts and opinions are valuable.

Love and kindness to everyone here,

Walter

I maintain those people have nothing to contribute, because they never really died. If they really were close, that means nothing to humans. We are semi-civilised beasts waxing poetic about manners, we don't know and I don't see why we HAVE to know about anything concerning supernatural topics.

It is also an anti-religion view, indeed. Whatever afterlife even a God can impose, doesm't concern us. Religion is supposedky the dealings of somebody way above us, incomprehensible so doesn't phase us, or concern us. God dealing with people and expecting us to know, or learn? Come on.

We can't even be sure he's there.

Why? If you had an afterlife, completely unknownable, what would you do? I doubt one can have the right ideas.

It's unknownable to babies what happens when they are born. They may have imagined our world to be a heaven - does that make it true? So do we imagine afterlife to be better.

"When we are born, we cry that we are come to this great stage of fools." - Will Shakespeare

Religion was created to control the populace before formal laws and the means to enforce them were available.

Think about how ridiculous this sounds: "You better not break the rules, because even if you get away with it now, you are going to burn for all eternity after you die." Lol, who actually believes this shit?

In all fairness though as we know it we live and we die. There is nothing after this. It's like religion. We like to believe in a greater power and an after life. There is nothing.

i like to think that there is an afterlife. if you really think about it, it really doesn't seem that irrational. we are living on a HUGE FUCKING BALL!!! THATS SPINNING!!!! IN THE MIDDLE OF AN ENDLESS VOID!!!! and astronomers also found that there are other universes in black holes. if thats possible, why couldn't that afterlife be possible? we were taught as kids that once you die , thats it, theres nothing else, but we really have no proof. as suicidal as i am, im honestly terrified of death, but i do believe that there is something more. sorry this was kind of a ramble, but i hope this can bring you a sliver of comfort

I like to think I see my family &:dogs again but I don't believe in God. I'm severely physically ill & existing in torturous hell. There is no hell & heaven if there was god wouldn't let me suffer like this I believe there is nothing after death but id like to think I'd see my loved ones agsin including the animals & my mum & dad when they die naturally some time in the next 10 years. Me I hope they will bury as I'm planning to get N soon to ctb.

I don't know if there is an afterlife. I guess nobody knows. Only those who have crossed already.

I like the thought of reincarnation. But then again I don't really know. I kinda hate the thought that there's nothing after. What was before? And why the hell were we born into suffering? If we only have 1 life, and it's suffering, how did you "earn" that suffering?

When others don't have the same kind of suffering? Why don't they have that and others do?

There is no evidence of an afterlife. I do not believe in any religion/God. It is a fictional concept. I think there is simply nothing after this, just like before we were born. I think once we lose consciousness that is it for us. The thought of nothing after death is comforting to me.

So what happens to our conscience? We just disappear? And then nothing forever? What is "nothing"?

Yes, I believe we just disappear. ' Nothing' means we do not experience anything again and we just cease to exist. Just like how time passed before we were born and we were not aware of anything.

But how the hell did we come into conscience then? And who decided when and where? I don't get it. Maybe it's all a simulation like the matrix. Being steered by some sort of maniac

I have not read all the replies, I have always been torn between yes and no, my belief's tell me yes, yet a moment tells me stop being pulled into a realty of which there is nothing, we go into a sleep upon which we do not wake, you know those moments, where we may be lucky and close our eyes, and wake the next morning, with no recall of the inbetween, Part of me believes that is where we go, we just don't wake

I don't think we will ever know as a person who is alive, and for those of us that are lucky enough to pass, there is no way of letting those stuck here know what is after if anything.

just pray for an eternal sleep and see what happens from there

I surmise that consciousness begins at birth or very close to birth. Once the new sentient being's brain and central nervous system is fully developed, their brain can commence receiving and processing stimuli via the senses; produce thoughts, ideas, and emotions based on those perceptions; and send signals to various parts of their body for different functions and actions. It's similar to turning on a newly manufactured computer for the first time.

But our conscience must come from a place right? So you're saying that it just gets born at that moment? I don't get. I like to believe that our conscience comes from a place and then is inserted into living form with a body

Yes, consciousness begins at around the time of birth. It comes from inside of a newborn's brain once the brain is fully developed and begins to function (by taking in stimuli from the environment via the senses, processing the information from the sensed stimuli, and creating thoughts based on the perceived stimuli). Again, it's like the software inside of a new computer.

So you're saying there's no soul? Or does the "newly born" conscience also consist of a soul?

So we're actually like a new computer, and mentally ill or psysically ill either are born with or gets eventually a broken harddrive?
