Hello,

Had my crown fall off 3 years ago and decided to not go to dentist. I postponed my CTB and didn't go to a dentist anyway all this time.

I had a dental filling fall off recently and had to go to dentist to fix the tooth. He realized I have crown missing and told me to find it so he can restore the tooth but I think I threw the crown away. There's still one tooth remaining with secondary caries and dentist told me in the worst case there might be a need for a root canal.

Dentist told me that the tooth that's been without crown is slowly decaying. I wonder how long until it's destroyed and what will happen? Will I feel the pain? Will it require a root canal?

I am thinking whether do I need to go through all of this since I am not planning to live this life. I estimate 7-10 years or so...

No offense, but you don't know where you will be six months from now, much less 7-10 years. Get the dental work done is my advice.

I'm on borrowed time for more than 10 years already... If I went back in time, I would have done so many things I didn't just because "I was going to die soon".

If you find the strength to get yourself to the dentist and also have the money to fix the more urgent problems, I think it's worth doing it. If nothing else, do it just to protect yourself from potential infections and pain.

Have you ever had a root canal? In the US they can cost maybe 2,000 USD and most insurance won't cover all of it. And then it may need to be done again.

Yes. When I was a 10 year old kid. It was painful and I cried. I don't remember whether dentist gave me anesthetic or not... Maybe she did and without anesthetic the pain would be unbearable?

In my experience the procedure itself is not painful because of the anesthesia, but the residual pain hurt for several days. And my jaw locked after, unable to close for maybe a minute. That was scary, and the otherwise good dentist did not take seriously.

How coincidental. I've been thinking the same thing recently. I haven't seen a dentist in many years just because I'm too out of it to get around to it and have nobody to convince or help me make an appointment. I don't have a problem with the dentist...or so i tell myself. i never used to but that was when i was a kid, had no choice, and preferred it to being abused by my pediatrician. so maybe its the clinical environment now on top of the other shit. idk.

i had no cavities or anything through 18 years old (even though i seriously neglected my teeth even then...i mean I've been fucked up my whole life so ig it makes sense), and that's unlikely now lol even though i tried to make an effort towards dental care.

it is probably worth doing though to minimize my suffering before the bus arrives. but that's my preference. some people want to prolong their suffering. i flip between the two. ...if i can't get knocked out for any major procedures i might need though idk if i can do it. I'm on Medicaid but idk if the dental covers that and i CAN'T afford to pay. so we'll see.

in any case, i sympathize with you, OP. it's so difficult to do normal things when i know i don't have very long...but like others have said, i can't REALLY know what the future holds. i do with 100% certainty know that none of my biggest reasons to ctb aren't ever leaving me, though. that makes me figure it can't possibly be that much longer unless i get locked up in a mental institution or something and truly cannot find a method... and that possibility is all the more reason to hurry up! sorry, i tend to talk out my thoughts to make everything clear, but i sometimes get a little lost anyway. but it's the only way i can communicate a lot of the time. hopefully someone benefits or can relate.

I highly recommend you go back to the dentist and fix it. do yoy have insurance? if you don't, please borrow money or save money. Ask the dentist for a payment plan if possible

In movies I often see those facilities where people come to and store their very important documents so nobody else can access them. Even company that offers this service. I don't know if this service is offered in my country but I think it might be an option to store reserve CTB kit just in case. Whatever might happen; get stuck in ward, nuclear war, zombiepocalypse, or any bad scenario you can always bet on that locked CTB kit.

That's a good plan in case of emergency but i meant if somebody forced me into an long-term inpatient psychiatric hospital where i lost legal freedom and i had limited to no access to the outside world or, in theory, anything that could harm me. i know people have succeeded under those circumstances but it's difficult and i don't think i have it in me. i guess if that happened they'd probably make me get the dental care too lol...

One of the reasons I'm even considering ctb is because my teeth are all shot from my eating disorder and clinical depression. I literally do not have the funds to have mine fixed and they're a source of crippling shame. I was so happy when masks became normalized.

If you have the funds get them corrected at least minimally do it. The pain of an abscess is like nothing you've ever felt. Luckily my ruined teeth have already had root canals back when I had insurance so I can't feel anything.

Get it fixed if you can. Fixing immediate and treatable physical pain at least is one thing I think someone should attempt even while suicidal because they can almost always spiral into something worse, which will make being alive even more painful.

Unless you are certain you will CTB within the next few weeks or so, which I think few people are, it's worth it to stop additional pain.

I lost a tooth this year and decided not to replace it. If one seriously intends to commit suicide within the next month it would be ridiculous to go to the dentist. Otherwise I would doubt that I am really going to kill myself. Of course I skip the mandatory cancer screenings. Ironically I got my Corona vaccinations, it´s because I want to be fit enough to kill my self in the way I want it.

If you think you'll be around for 7-10 more years, then I would definitely advise getting it fixed if you are able to. Unless you are like me and are hoping any extra pain will help as a sort of 'push' into CTB'ng, haha. Toothaches are very high on the pain scale though. My grandfather who had an abscess said the only worse physical pain he experienced was kidney stones. That got me a little worried, partially the reason why I kicked myself into high gear into getting all the required items for CTB 🤣

Well not if your on your last day, but tooth pain drives you insane and I'd get whatever sorted if I knew I only had a week. Even a good dose of morphine doesn't kill chronic tooth damage to a reasonably healthy nerve.

If you're planning on living 7-10 more years, get it fixed. An untreated cavity is incredibly painful, and can cause your jaw to rot away. Even if you're ready to CTB today, that's not exactly a pleasant way to go. If you're going to be around for at least half a decade, you'll be in excruciating pain the entire time, if not getting surgery to have part of your jaw removed. I'd get it fixed!
