Is the Hazmat fee new?

I'm trying to order SN within the US. It seems to be sold out everywhere. I found one place that's a little more expensive but they add on a 'necessary' Hazmat fee. Is this a new thing I never noticed?

Just order it ASAP before that source goes down. Like you said they are unavailable everywhere these days. Just 2 years ago there were dozens of places. Don't wait around because it costs a little more. There might not be another chance in the near future.

That's what I've been observing. I found one that was cheap but they only sell to labs. Wonder if companies are backing out or if SN is actually this popular these days.

The supplier I just tried to order it from didn't tack on a hazmat fee. Unfortunately I had to cancel the order bc that particular company won't send it to a PO box, which is the only way I can receive mail. However their customer support did email me back to say they can send it to my residence via UPS or FedX. And again, no mention (yet) of an additional hazmat charge.

I'd definitely recommend snatching it up if at all possible. When I got mine in 2019 it was quite easy but as @eternalmelancholy said it's quite shocking that its becoming so much more difficult, so rapidly. I guess it's a bit foolish to expect the cat to remain in the bag forever, though. Sad.

I'm not sure where you're looking, a quick search of "buy sodium nitrite" showed me many suppliers in the u.s., including one that I very recently got 2 lbs from for $10 - it's really not restricted in the u.s.- amazon doesn't have it anymore, but there arer many other suppliers.

I don't know either, Google. Was an impulse search and nothing good came up. I need to take my time cause $36 only in fees isn't reasonable. I'm cash strapped but want a bottle of SN in the house for when I need it, whenever that's going to be.

2 lbs is a serious amount of SN. That's enough for like, what, 100 suicides? I did google your suggestion and most of the sellers ask you to contact them before you can make a purchase. I assume they'll want to make sure you're a company or a lab, so it's not as easy as you make it out to be.

I know of several SN sources but they weren't as easy to find as googling a simple phrase.

The first place I tried they did not say that I had to contact them before they would ship it- I just ordered it and that was it. It is food grade and 99+% pure- the supplier I used is currently out of stock now- I did get mine about a month ago. Maybe it has tightened up since then- I might have gotten this just before this happened. The quantity is enough for thirty-six 25 gram doses, way more than I needed, but it is their smallest container. There may have been a recent crackdown on this and maybe I did get this just in time, not sure. The third option I looked at seems like it will be no problme to order- same with the 4th and 5th options- they were added to my cart with no mention of restrictions.
