Has anyone else read The Complete Manual of Suicide? I'm kind of curious to if this book is still reliable or not, it's written in 1993, but it's very detailed and has a lot of methods, including weird ones like starvation and bear attack. It seems to have a lot of research that went into it. If it's still reliable, I can probably find a backup plan in there.

If people in this forum actually trusted such a book, we'd be able to see tons of threads wondering what kind of bear should it be to work properly, or complaining they missed the chance as they may be hibernating this time of the year

EDIT: Maybe checking the websites lostallhope + the PPH latest edition available here + the forum search tool will give you way more updated, and reliable, sources on suicide methods

Well, that's just one of the methods, most of the book is dedicated to overdose, cutting arteries, (not just wrists, the book had a method saying if you stab your neck artery you will die) jumping in front of a train and hanging.

It's an obscure book. Most people won't have heard of it. As I haven't, I cannot give any input. Obscure doesn't mean ineffective. I'd be interested in reading that text, but don't know if I will be around that long.

An old mentor of mine discussed the difference between Chinese and American culture in relation to medicine. He said Americans always want the new thing, while the Chinese want what is old, because it is tried and true, tested through multiple generations. If something, like hanging, has worked for millennia, it will still work, though hard to swallow. The newest technology may have unforeseen glitches. Older technology...well, people know how to deal with glitches when older technology misbehaves(through hundreds, if not thousands of years of trial and error)...

There is the fact that some people were found in Aokigahara with the book on their person, but... The whole thing is in Japanese, which 99% of users here can't read or translate. Because of that, I doubt we'll truly know how effective it is.

ive found this book in veeery broken english translation:
"(3) Organic solvents
Kerosene, gasoline, Benzene, thinner
It is also possible to pour kerosene, gasoline, etc. on the body and light it, but if you
take it, you can reduce it.
You can die without much pain. After taking these drugs, they will stimulate the mucosa and
inhibit the central nervous system. appear
Nausea, drowsiness, burning in the chest, stinging, etc. will eventually cause death due to
cessation of breathing. Sometimes there are
Ventricular fibrillation and sudden death. After that, there have been crickets who drank
250 milliliters of gasoline.
Benzene is readily available in pharmacies. The minimum lethal dose is ten milliliters,
which is equivalent to one fifth of the glass
One cricket, but at least one hundred liters should be taken. But this is not a big deal.
After taking
The central nervous system is inhibited and the whole body becomes anesthetized. The
symptoms are headache, dizziness, and short duration

ventricular fibrillation. Poisoning
It is serious and is most suitable for self-esteem.
Volatile components of inhaled benzene are more toxic than ingested. But because the death
caused by inhalation has not been cleared up, so
Let me introduce you.
Thinner is "diluted coating liquid", mostly toluene and methanol
(Methyl alcohol). Most of them are entrusted to others, and the content of the ingredients
is fixed.
Therefore, it is suitable for planned self-confidence, but it is very toxic. There is a
burning sensation in the mouth, esophagus and stomach after taking it,
Inhibits the central nervous system, impairs hematopoietic function and leads to death.
The use of diluent is to allow death by suction. One, ○○○ ~ Three, ○○○ ppm
Can be immediately trapped in anesthesia. Fill the wash basin with banana water and cover it
with a quilt, you will lose consciousness,

you should use pure 度 very high
Thinner. Of course, it 's also a good idea to take a few sips in order to speed up before
using other methods
Wrong start"
>after ingesting (gasoline) the CNS inhibited
it's grave wrong if meaning of this line translated correctly like you gonna just fell asleep after ingesting gasoline

well it has explanation of variety of unusual methods: paraquat poisoning, aconite, speedball, brovarin, mothballs, codeine cough syrup, hydroxylamine and physical methods(jumping, cutting) explained in depth but it's hard to assess it due to lack of normal translations

reference books have value i think:
Lethal Citations
(A) "Remedy for Drugs, Poisons, and Emergency Revision 4" (Medicine-Press)
(B) "Acute Poison Information" (Guangchuan Bookstore)
(C) "Emergency poisoning-" (Medical College)
(D) "Standard Forensic Medicine, Medical Legal System" (Medical College)
(E) "Modern Forensic Medicine" (published by Ebara)
(F) "Medical Forensic Medicine" (published by Asakura)
(G) "Poisoning" (Guangchuan Bookstore)
(H) "‧" (D‧-by, Tokushima Bookstore)
(I) "Self-reliance-Method of Relieving Death"
(C‧, Y‧L‧ co-authored, Tokushima Bookstore)
(J) 『Kakuto Tosei and Shiji 狀 Government 2nd Edition』 (edition by Kiyoshi Eiichi, Toyo
Book Store)
(K) `` Medical Deaths Collection '' (by Ikeda Ayao, Nanshan Hall)
(L) `` Emergency Doctor '' 79 年 October
(M) "Forensic Medicine-" (Ancient Chinese Books, Chinese Public Library)
Citation
'but ones need to look for english/native equivalent of them as it's very unlikely that there's translations. this book doesn't mention inert gases at all though CO method has explained. it has value only from historical perspective and for those who prefer physical methods imo
