Terrorism and violence is Stupid but I have wondered that if those willing to die could voluntarily (and 'safely') be participants in something useful and necessary.

I believe there is potential for that, if someone wants to recruit people and knows how to manipulate them, but I doubt it is made with that in mind, if that is the question.
Having said that, literally ANY place on the internet can be used in terrorist recruitment purposes .

People who indoctrinate others into cults and shady organizations do it by assessing what kind of person someone is, and proceed to further brainwash them based on that. Some join because they simply want access to guns, some want to belong and feel accepted, some want to serve a greater purpose, some are simply just bored etc.
There are so many ways to manipulate people to join and they don't even have to be in a very bad mental state, or bad situation (as many people here are)

In other words, it can sure be but I doubt it is done here on larger scale.
Besides, I feel like most people here do not want to take others down with them, engage in harming others and would rather have a non-violent, peaceful death and that it just doesn't align so well with joining an organization like that, at least in most cases.

One wanted people to hurt themselves. There was a culture of self harm and extreme weight loss. The other endorsed targeted attacks against certain minority groups. Although most members were hateful but didn't act on it. Enriching the leader was the most important aspect.

Well I don't think the leaders were very smart. For one I was reading an article they wrote and there were a lot of slurs. I wasn't completely radicalized so just the amount of hate turned me off. For the other I got a bit more into it, but at some point I realized it was very fucked up. It was a slow thing, if I had to pick a moment that turned me off it would be seeing a friend of mine I thought was calm and always in control.

Yeah exactly. Anytime someone mentions a method that could harm someone else (even just mentally such as going in front of a train) tons of people tell them it's a terrible idea. Most of us respect other people's wish to live and just want to ctb ourselves.
