Is shadowbanning a thing here?

I think my previous post has been shadowbanned. Haven't received a single reaction or reply. Can't even see who's viewing it. I usually have some people commenting.

You may have just been randomly unlucky, this board has a high post rate and the few people who saw the thread might have not decided which reaction would be most appropriate (which may happen for various reasons, for example, they want to relate emotionally as in "console you" but their situation is very different hence leaving a reaction "I relate" may also feel dishonest the way people who want to talk one out of suicide but not actually help ones struggles is dishonest). I assume you are talking about the thread you started few days ago.

I see posts that are unanswered weeks after they are made.
It depends on who is online that day and what they are interested in answering.
It is pretty random.

and they prevented me from even opening a ticket. I think it is dumb that you can't delete past posts by yourself.

Yea I think time of day/time zone and day of the week can impact views/interactions. Maybe theres stuff like weather or holidays too - not just how much folk are scrolling but also in a mindset to engage rather than lurk. I know I personally can swing wildly between the two

I think there is a quiet complexity of the people on the other side of the screen instead of shadow-ban. Many people (myself included) often just lurk, reflect, and appreciate a post with just hitting like without a comment. Some of the profound reactions happen in silence.

sometimes people just don't see your post /gen
mainly US users here, so the usual posting hours are at night or in the afternoon. people usually see my posts more at night because that's when they browse, but it's pretty random still. shadowbanning isn't a thing. they usually just ban your account.

The reason they disable that feature is because if it were allowed, it would make a lot of threads across this site very unreadable, and it would lose a lot of context if people deleted a lot of their posts. That's why they encourage you to think carefully before you post here, because the window to delete it yourself is pretty small and the only other way is to report it and asked to have it deleted, I've done that before though and they've deleted it without issue. I'd imagine if you do this too many times they might turn it down eventually.

I disagree. On reddit you can delete posts whenever you want and most threads are still readable

I'm not saying that's my opinion, I am just repeating the reasoning they've given in other threads when questioned about this. I think there was actually a whole thread dedicated to this, at one point or another.
