Yes, the stopper knot is the small one after the main knot, tied in the tail end. It's called an Overhand Knot. The main knot is called a Noose Knot. Together, the combination of the two is called an Arbor Knot or a Canadian Jam Knot (these two are the same knot).

The function of the stopper knot is to prevent the main knot from slipping and coming undone. You can see this in action if you look at how the Canadian Jam Knot works. Without the stopper knot, the Noose Knot can slip and can even completely untie itself.
