That is a very interesting question.
I guess people that talk about life being precious feel it is very precious to themselves, so they can't imagine it can be otherwise for others. The worth of life is a very interesting topic, which is something I believe each and every person views differently.
What is your opinion on what makes life worthy?

Simply put, life is too hard, too stressful, too disappointing to be considered precious to me.

It sucks when you stop enjoying everything about life. Since you wake up till you go sleep. That's how I'm feeling right now.

Depends on whom you ask.

Life is precious for people who are mentally robust and want to live as long as possible.

For others like us, not so much.

If you got a good strong mind and body, and a powerful sense of purpose in life that carries you till you die by terminal disease or old age, then basically you have scored good in the genetic lottery. Consider yourself really lucky.

In my opinion, no, the existance of life was a mistake and it only continues to exist because people and animals have chemicals in their brains that tells them to reproduce and to do anything possible to continue living (si).

It's weird for me. I hate everything about it. The pain, the world, socialising and keeping connections in check, how to survive, etc. I want nothing to do with it, and want out. And yet I'm still suppressing it all and trying to live a life, despite how hard it is to do so. I'm doing something, but there's always that but of me pulling back.
Emotional side of me says it isn't worth it. There is nothing to gain but flashes of temporary joy, whether they be from a group hang-out or a triumph, only to submerge back into the turmoil that is life.Leave now and stop torturing yourself. You matter, others don't.
Funnily enough, rational me keeps that all at bay every single day just for those flashes. And then I'd have a good impact on those around me. Because then it actually all means something. At least maybe for a little. We'll see when it actually happens.

I often wonder why people aren't committing suicide on mass like lemmings jumping of cliffs or something like that but I guess most people would feel that having such thoughts is not normal, thats my view.

Well think about it. You're a lemming, and you haven't jumped off a cliff yet. The reason the other lemmings aren't jumping off a cliff is the same reasons you haven't yet. Survival instinct.

You raise an interesting question. Precious is defined as something of "great value; not to be wasted or treated carelessly." A body is worth anout $600 in chemicals. That's a dead body. People spends thousands, sometimes millions, on a single life. Then again, many lives are wasted or treated carelessly, even the ones costing millions. So I'd say life is and isn't precious.

this was a edit to that post but I'll make it a new post

also If I was told I had 24hours something like this I might breathe a sigh of relief but most people would probably be in great distress.

or got covid 19 - but that would be a terrible way to die probably - I once was smoking so much I was coughing up black shit regularly and that wasn't nice.

Objectively life is horrible. But due to SI, religion, culture, etc many ppl are fooled to think life is precious. Also time is a big factor. A person can feel life is horrible at one period and the opposite in another.

I guess if a person is dying but they want to stay alive they'd see life as precious.
Or if someone just really enjoys life they might think it precious.
But for me, being alive when all I want is to be dead, no it's not precious at all.

not to me, it isn't. life is just life. there's nothing special about it, it's just the result of the earth having perfect conditions for life and whatnot.

Yes, life is everything we have and it can be so great which is why it's so depressing when you have no hope of getting better and have nothing to live for. I wish I could enjoy my life

The lemmings didn't mass suicide off a cliff. They were driven. It was set up by the filmmakers, it's not natural lemming behavior.

Depends on who you ask..Life is the greatest gift for some and the biggest curse for others. I want to return this "precious gift" I didn't ask to exist...I wish I never existed. Life is nothing but a curse for me I was intended to be obsolete.
