  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Technically it's a crime to destroy government property, so yes

No, its isn't wrong at all. We were forced into this life so its totally fair if you want to leave it at any time. We shouldn't be forced to suffer and we should be able to end that suffering through death or recovery.

I'd say it depends. If you've got obligations like you've dragged others into this place, and now they rely on you, then yes, it is wrong. Another example of obligations that I think would make suicide unethical would be pets. You'd need to find them a good home first. But assuming you haven't made any huge messes here that still need cleaning up, there's no rational argument that you should be obligated to stay here if you deem it negative.

First, you should unpack what you mean by "wrong". The only sensible definition for "wrong" is something causing you negative emotions, since everything you do including choosing a certain moral framework is motivated by emotions. The result is that what's wrong is subject to opinion. There is no objective standard of right or wrong to judge your potential suicide, so it's entirely up to you. My opinion is that suicide is an acceptable response to the unjust nature of this world that causes me a negative emotional reaction to begin with.

Must say I disagree with this idea. Seem to be a common opinion that "wrong" things are subjective, but I'd say harm is not entirely subjective. The specific experience is subjective, yes, but the idea of harm in general is an objective reality for an insane amount of sentient beings on this planet. I'm just saying the patterns formed by neurons in brains that cause what we call a bad experience is a concrete reality.
