Is it worth being a Martyr?

So many of us have accepted our fate in the way the world is run. In a way I have too, but all I can do is complain about how stupid this all is. I hate that I was born into this system, it's so stupid.

You mean to tell me that we have the ability to experience life just for other humans to live by societal rules that ruin us but are just being told this is what the "real word is like" clearly I'm not alone on this as more things are impacting people more personally and it has people discussing about things, but that's about it all. No revolting just going back to their jobs and mundane lifes. It terrifies me, I don't want to live such a life forever and be the one to say, "well, it's just how it is and has always been."

What's the plan after we take down those in power? They'll just get replaced and continue the game. And If all goes down because no one has the best interest in other then it'll be like some anarchy, right? They'll punish us since they control our means of survival. They have made a system that requires people to struggle and then they sell us a remedy for it.

Although we live longer and such because of the advancement of medicine and technology, that's also a business led by greed and a lot of it is. If it meant I could live happier and a fulfilled life but die young, I'd rather have that.

Dammit, I wish we could go back to trading things and living in the forest with clothes that aren't toxic eating food that isn't toxic and having a community.

I don't know, maybe it was wrong that we were ever here and that it was all inevitable.

this is kind of an old post, but i used to think the way you did and then i realized that the things on tv are nothing like how reality actually is. when the tv and computer is your prime source of not even entertainment, but sustenance (other than food and water and rest of course) it literally ends up warping your sense of reality so bad.

I too hate the way the world is being run and don't know what to do about it either. I also hate that I was born into this shit.

I've been wanting to revolt myself and join a revolution of sorts, and it would start with me quitting my job which I am heavily considering doing today. Tonight will likely be my last night at work and while I don't particularly blame my employers for this, I blame the entire corrupt system that is funded by our labor and our taxes.

I don't even think there should be a plan after taking down those in power, except to find a way to destroy all of reality itself. Even if we wiped out humanity, nature would still be there, torturing animals for no other reason than survival in a disgusting predator-prey cycle. It all needs to go as far as I'm concerned.

The idea of living a fulfilled life and dying young, rather than becoming old and bitter sounds much better. Unfortunately for me, I'm getting into that bitter stage, even though I'm not especially old yet. There was once a time when I was happy and I wish I could've die suddenly and unexpectedly back then. 2014 was the last full year where I enjoyed life and did all the things I wanted to do. If I would've died at the end of that year, it would've been a blessing to me.

Sometimes I think about martyring myself and dying for a cause I believe in. Sometimes I think about setting myself on fire in protest but not for Buddhism, rather for some other cause that means everything to me, like The Right to Die for example. I'm sorry your thread didn't get any replies until today, but perhaps I would've seen it sooner if I had been spending more time in the Politics & Philosophy section. Lately though, I've been posting in it quite heavily and don't see that changing any time soon.

Amish society I think is rather close to what you describe as your preferred way of life. Alternatively kibbutz society. Otherwise there's countries like Switzerland where the minimum wage is like 4500 USD per month and legally you can't work longer than 42 hours per week and social welfare to maintain a students way of life with private healthcare provided by the state because private healthcare is legally compulsory even if you can't afford it then the state (or rather canton) by law legally has to finance it for you. (Swiss labour unions have insane influence in swiss policies and swiss history)

However I feel your anger. The worlds phrasing of the Japanese deflation crisis and not realising that it was a poorly managed miracle is nothing short of a crime against humanity. Economists even have a tearm "deaths of despair" (sounds like they should be employed as mental health professionals)
