Discussion Is it weird to be attracted to your cousin?

I'm attracted to my female cousin. She's 18 and I'm 21. I've been told that it's a terrible idea to act on it or even tell her as it could destroy family relationships. When incest is considered illegal in the world, it technically applies to immediate family members like brother, sister, mother, father. Not cousins. Cousin marriage and sex is legal pretty much everywhere and doesn't carry the same amount (though there is a risk) of genetic deformities arising.

Has anyone else ever been attracted to a relative?

It's funny, I read that men are more likely to have incestual feelings than women. It's a shame that they don't reciprocate it.

I don't think it's wrong to have those thoughts. Probably a lot of people do and they just don't admit it. I also don't see sexual contact between cousins as being inherently wrong in and of itself, but it could mess with your sense of family dynamics a bit.

Thoughts are different to actions. As long as it's in your head and stays there, it should be fine. And whether acting out your feelings of attraction to cousins is incestuous is entirely a social construct. In my opinion as long couples do a genetics test before having children, they're clear.
