There's no doubt there are many sick, vulnerable people diagnosed with COVID-19. I apologize for bringing this hot topic that 99% of all SS threads are discussing for the past week. Hospitals are overflowing and may not be able to care for waves of new patients. New patients therefore have to suffer without focused medical attention. But can we all agree that such innocent people do not deserve to go through their pain and that a peaceful alternative to the path toward their death? One of the solutions I would like to propose is to ease regulations on assisted-suicide in such emergency situations (This would not even require a physician since they are all too busy and the legal process takes too long).
My point is, is it an appropriate time to promote the legalization of assisted suicide in every country? Since I've had quite pessimistic views for even before the start of the pandemic, I believe that it's important to consider the worst case scenario of the pandemic infecting 100% of humanity without a cure. I do not intend to make the chaos more hysterical and persuade all of you, but rather direct your thoughts towards promoting assisted suicide. If we were all to die, but more probably, if you knew you will die due to COVID-19, how would you want to express your preference of a painless death, despite its prohibition? I want to discuss the possibility of finding a solution to the aforementioned question and introduce it to society with the intent of raising awareness. Should we start a movement to legalize assisted suicide? Or a movement to promote the slight trivialization of death. I may be thinking too over the top or asking for too much unnecessary attention, but I just want to help people get through this pandemic and never suffer through the illnesses of COVID-19, now that the news report that hospitals are overflowing and the chaos within society changes every individual's identity. I am willing to respond to anyone else's thoughts or questions about this post. Thanks for reading.
