  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I know it is best to die indoors by the main methods and have someone find you on instruction or from checking on you. But I don't own my apartment and for other reasons just don't want to die here. And I'd rather not send a timed message to my family and have one of them find me (although they would have to contact the police anyway to get in).
I had an idea about going to the coast/beach in the very early hours of the morning when there would be no one around and die in a a somewhat secluded public area but where there would be activity hours later (later than 4 hours). I plan on using SN and I don't think vomiting would alert people to me where I am thinking of going. But then I would have some poor stranger discover me after the fact so no scenario is ideal really.
Does anyone have thoughts on dying in your home/accommodation versus public?

It's hard to say. I'm a fan of not involving other people as much as possible, but some methods mean random strangers might see the results. It's a lot harder to drown in a bathtub compared to a lake. If first responders are finding you they at least have experience and are presumably expecting it as opposed to being caught by surprise- that's better, but even then it's hard on them. Death is hard for most humans. I don't think there's a right answer here. Do your best to mitigate and prevent where you can.

I just think that for me, the thing that is important is not being found too early. I think that in many cases people ctb in public only when they have no suitable place indoors where they would be undisturbed. I don't really have a problem with it as suicide is a human right after all. To me the problem is the society that makes suicide so stigmatised and denies the option of euthanasia. If we lived in a world where our right to die is respected then nobody would have to ctb in public and have others traumatised by finding a dead body.

You can not count on people to follow the rules and not discover you for four hours- lots of people explore places during hours when they are not open. You would be planning on breaking the rules for the hours- so why would you think you would be the only one who would break this rule? It would be a very risky decision and not worth the risk to do this. Best of luck.

Not trying to sound like a dick but doing it at the beach is dumb. There are little kids that go there to have fun, none of them should ever have to see a dead body. It will scare them for life and fuck them up. I suggest doing it at home or in a hotel room.

I feel like nowhere public is fool proof. Years ago my friends and I would often go to the beach after clubbing to watch the sun come up. Then there's early morning joggers, dog walkers etc. I'd worry about being found too early, aside from the things others have mentioned about who might find you if you succeed. X
