So I know everyone in prison says they are not guilty but is there anyone here who is not mentally ill? I'll be honest, I'm not. No depression, anxiety, BPD, nothing. Never been in a psych ward, no anti depressants, no previous attempts, no break downs. Nada. I am just done with this pointless existence.

why does existence seem pointless to you?

If you have none of those mental illnesses then I don't understand why you want to ctb.

There's always an exception to the rule. However, I'd bet that most CTBers have a diagnosed or undiagnosed mental illness.

I was formally diagnosed with childhood related PTSD, major depressive disorder (with anhedonia), severe anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder with avoidant and dependent features. If you think about it, a lot of this shit runs together. Just different hues of neuroticism.

I diagnosed myself with having a shitty life.

Some doctors would diagnose (light) depression based on that statement, so according to that you'd be in fact mentally ill.

All these "shiny happy people" seem pretty mentally ill to me. Walking around in this tourmented world like nothing is wrong. Believing that some cosmic wizard put them here for a special purpose. We are all trapped in a spherical concentration camp that devours all sentient life. Nature is a brutal machine that people just can't stop feeding. Yet when tragedy strikes, people are still shocked by it's functionality.

Natalism alone caused the deaths of over 70 million people last year. That's more than World War II took in 6. And I'm not even counting the ones who are suffering in agony every single day.

Love that

I have all the house dvd's and that show has many quotes that are powerful but that one always stuck with me because I could relate to it when I was at my lowest.

Whats wrong with your life then exactly? Saying its pointless immediately makes you mentally ill, unless you have a reason.

There are several people here who want to ctb cause of chronic pain. I'm not one of them but I can understand why they want to end their lives and I don't think they're mentally ill at all (though I'm not a doctor obviously).

To be fair though I've had a good handful of doctors who straight up diagnosed me with bipolar just cause I said there were periods in my depressive episodes where I'm actually happy, so sometimes doctors would literally try to find the loosest definition of some disorder just to get $ from Big P unfortunately.

My ex wife has one the most painful disease in the world - Dercums Disease (Adiposis dolorosa). It's were fatty tumors grow in adipose tissue. Because you really can't see the tumors, it's hard to diagnose. Nobody even knows what causes it. These lumps are incredibly painful.

I held her many nights as she screamed like she was being stabbed to death for hours on end. Very painful to watch a loved on go though that. She also wants Nembutal. Said it would be comforting for her to just have it there. I can understand.

She's a lot stronger than I could ever be. She's very intelligent and a wonderful artist. Paints rocks for a living.

I'm usually always diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I first see a new doctor. It's sort of a "catch all" lazy diagnoses. Then they have to go back and change the diagnoses because I don't have ups and downs or manic episodes. I'm just down.

Nope. But I have made a serious attempt. Given the circumstances it was understood...smile.

Aye but some doctors think that grief is a mental illness. It is actually evidence of normality.

its normal to think life is pointless at times. Every above average iq person does this. What isnt normal and a sign of mental illness, is wanting to kill yourself over it. There is an underlying issue that pushes you to that thought.

Mental illness does not make you unable to make descions. That is absurd. Their is no life is worth living fact. People think life is worth living based on feelings. Feeling are not justification to impose on someone else.

he never said being mentally ill makes you unfit. Whats with the stigma of mentall illness anyway? ive noticed the phrase not being liked on this forum.

Mental illness can range from a tiny mild dysthymia to full blown schizophrenia.

From my point of view he implied it. A lot of people hold the view you should not be able to take your life because of mental illness. Even though people without mental illness commit suicide they believe everyone who commits suicide is mentally ill. And Mental illness does not usually compromise ability to make descions.

Thats absurd. Any mental illness that prevents you making decisions means youre better off dead anyway. Most mentally ill people can think straight though.

Life is suffering
yes but from my opinion people make life full of more suffering than necessary for each other. if people lived in the most "beneficial" way then the planet may not be as bad as it is right now.

I have bipolar, PTSD, and anxiety and I'm off the meds/therapy 3 years ago, but I think I would be suicidal even if I don't have this diagnosis.

I'm not mentally ill I guess, just been fucked over hard by life. Unfortunately I am going to have to force myself to take meds again because I get angry a lot and I want to die constantly. My life has caused me these (justified) uncontrollable thoughts so I have to force myself to be presentable so I can have a social life or something

"im not mentally ill"

"i get angry a lot and want to kill myself"

and people wonder why the government and normal people dont consider us rational people capable of making decisions. People like this guy ruin it for everyone else.
