This thread and comments give a prime example as to why anyone who says suicide is a cowardly act is full of shit.

Personally, I don't fear the so called "afterlife" because there is none. Once you're dead, you cease to exist and enter eternal nothingness. It is a scientific fact that there is no such thing as a "god" or "afterlife" and that the bible is fucking bullshit. Think about it logically, the big bang happened some 13.8 billion years ago, yet according to the bible, "god" created the universe some 6000 years ago. The dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago, how are these religious god-worshipers supposed to explain that? Religion is full of fairytales and is utter bullshit, period. There is no afterlife to fear after death, once you die, you simply cease to exist forever, pure and simple.

This seems like paradise ...meeting so many likeminded ´´souls´´embracing eternal nothingness to the fullest! Love it man... makes (us) less lonely and above all TRUE PEOPLE!

I'm an atheist and don't believe there is anything after death. I find it more plausible that the concept of hell was invented by people in positions of power to control their subordinates, rather than out of divine revelation.

And yet I'm still mortified of going to hell and being punished for commiting suicide or for leaving a hurtful suicide note (for people who deserve it).

I deeply believe that hell doesn't exist and I'm still scared of going there after I die. Does anyone feel the same? Anyone scared of hell even though they don't believe in it? (or reincarnation or whatever)

The afterlife. If it exists it won't be something like Hell. The rules are too unfair. Someone that has good parents, good school friends, live in a rich country and a better genome can withstand better life. If you birth in a country were you are kidnapped and being forced to be a military child, that one would go to hell, for example

But, sometimes I'm afraid of what could be after, despite I don't believe in god.

Sometimes I imagine that the universe could collapse and start again, reliving our lifes.

I wish it would be something from my 'science fiction' readings, among others: the Cassiopaeans teachings 'channeled' by Laura Jadczyk-Knight, where dying means returning to the source, going back to another dimension, non-physical world.

What I really fear [I have this picture in my head every day] is being thrown into 'black hole' - a place between our world and other world instead.
I cannot stop thinking about it and imagining being there already..

There is no afterlife so don't be afraid of that. We are no better than animals basically but societies have made up this bullshit such as religion for a multitude of reasons - control, whatever.
Please don't leave a horrid suicide note. It isn't a legacy you want to leave. That will be your legacy forever. People don't view those who do that as kindly as those who just say I had enough or whatever the reasons are for your wanting to go.
If you aren't here I know it doesn't matter but don't do this just because of one other person who has done something to hurt you please. I am sure it's more than that and don't wish to undermine your suffering ❤

I don't believe in religion either but here are some questions for you.

- Ok, lets suppose we are in time that is one year before your birth. But somehow we manged to talk to the unborn you...

1. Asked the same question as OP, what would your answer be? I'm assuming it would be the same as now because you are still you

2. In that case you would be proven wrong an year later wouldn't you? ( Assuming you believe the state before birth and the state after death is the same ie. "nonexistance" or nothingness.

So yeah there is a resonable chance you are still wrong.

I agree and it makes logical sense. I am an atheist myself and to further add to your point, there is no afterlife because there is no beforelife. The time before one is born and has conscious, one doesn't feel anything nor has the capacity to feel/perceive anything because there was no conscious nor physical existence of one.

Religion and the afterlife is not one and the same. You can believe in the afterlife without believing in any religion, doctrines, or any gods.

Religion was invented by men and its stupid for sure. But dont throw the baby out with the bath water. There are many convincing cases of near death experiencers, many of whom were atheists yet still experienced an afterlife.

I dont believe religion made everything up out of thin air. They distort the truth in a way that suits their agenda.

If you listen to people whos had near death experiences theyll tell you that the afterlife does not punish any suicides, but instead offer the opportunity for healing. These peoples stories are a lot more believable than religion because they dont have anything to gain by making up stories.

Ok there's what I'm going to do IF there is an afterlife. I'll review my whole previous life, to make sure I won't fail again while sipping a piña colada.

After a robot breaks does it's mind go anywhere? No, there is nothing to power it.
Humans are basically really advanced robots.

I believe in reincarnation. But it's more of a desperate hope rather than a belief. In a perfect universe I hope to be reincarnated and live a better life than the one I'm living now. The idea of an afterlife heaven/hell scares the shit out of me. Not existing also makes me feel very uncertain. I don't know what to think about an afterlife.

I feel the same way. Although I am agnostic and I don't believe in hell, I grew up in a religious family. CTB is very taboo, and is seen as a sin by many. Even teachers in my school used to say that people who take their own lives have to spend eternity watching people suffer. Although this is obviously made up, that image still terrifies me. Sometimes it is the only thing that stops me. This idea also makes many people in my home country associate desperate people with sins, which is horrible in my opinion.
...spending eternity watching others suffer...? Is that not we are doing in the real world...perhaps this is hell.
