The night night method is probably the only way if you only have a shoelace

I'm trying to do it when I run off from the psych ward lol I don't have rope

i agree with the post above by updog but if you really wanna do FSH then its possible to do it with a shoelace if its long enough which is unlikely
also it will be really uncomfortable and painful because its very thin and for the best comfort you need atleast 12mm in thickness
but other than those 2 issues it could work if you anchor it well and are willing to go through around 2-3 minutes of pain to die

No obviously not. I'm stuck in a psych ward. Why the hell would this be a joke?

A shoelace probably will not be enough. They're pretty thin so theres a decent chance that the lace will snap and you'll fall, or worse, that it will snap after a while and you'll end up with brain damage. Moreover, the rough surface of the tree will wear it down too and increase the chance of it snapping. You'll be better off getting a rope (preferably 12mm think for full suspension).

thank you, what if I double up on laces & tie them together and make them thicker?
I don't think I'd have enough time to run on leave and go and get some rope or something

Bunny, this is a very sketchy way to hang.
Shoelaces are really not that long. Would they be long enough to go around both the tree limb and your neck? You need a limb strong enough to hold you.
If you double them up, it would be a little stronger.
I cannot ask you to wait but understand your haste. I suggest having a Plan B in case this fails. You would loose you free time if they catch you.

because very little thought has been given. the lower limbs of a tree are gonna be thick. are you gonna climb? when you get to a limb thin enough for shoe laces... will it snap under your weight. comedy show.

i'm sorry. having a bad day i guess. did not mean to be that insensitive. just give it more thought...

A shoelace is incredibly unlikely to carry your weight or the forces exerted, no matter how you do it. It'll probably just rip. Especially if it's used.

There are better everyday materials. I can't give you advice.

The problem with a shoelace is after you pass out your body will start having muscle spasms, ands its a pretty safe bet that it will break. Depending how long it takes to break you are looking at life changing injuries. I have seen a few people here talking about losing eye sight. That's the least of it I would think. A shoelace is also gonna be painful as it digs into the skin I would think.

And FYI those spasms can get pretty violent. The body will unconsciously try to free itself

Its no problem at all! And as for the doubling of the laces, although it will reduce the pressure on the shoelace, it is still decently likely to break under your bodyweight. And as another person said, your body will spasm while hanging; the forces from the spasms and the friction the movement will generate where the lace is in contact with the tree will still lead to the lace likely breaking.

I understand you're in a psych ward right now and don't have alot to work with in regards to ctb methods, but the risk of the lace breaking and/or you getting caught are high enough that it's not a decent method at all; there's just too much that can go wrong.

It sucks but it seems the best course of action would be to wait it out till you're out of the psych ward and then look for a decent rope and an anchor point if hanging's still your go to method.

Wish you the best of luck 🖤

Do your best to pretend you're totally fine, communicate that in an articulate and sane way to the doctor, pretend you have a safety plan and all that. They will let you out of the psych ward soon after and you can think this through better.

No va a funcionar. Yo lo hice en un impulso y como no tenía nada listo fue lo primero que encontré. La cuerda se rompió y lastimé mi cuello

Not to make light of the pain you're in but if this were you work, I would like to know what shoelace brand because obviously it's tough as hell and I have a nasty habit of snapping my laces.
