I know what you mean. It's supposed to be 500ft+ in places, but that doesn't look like 500ft to me - more like 200ft at that pointDo people end their life by jumping off that cliff?
I don't mean to be negative, but that drop looks like it has a high risk of damaging you severely, but not actually kill you - in a worst case scenario. It's just a feeling I got from watching that video.
Beachy head is one of the most infamous suicide spots in EnglandDo people end their life by jumping off that cliff?

what do you mean it's a 50/50 thing? the death rate is very highJumping off Beachy Heads a 50/50 thing, theres been cases of murder suicide of fathers or mothers jumping off with there kids to people generally driving off or jumping off (I considered it once). I think its an impulse thing, There's a local group who patrol the area quite frequently, although if they catch you near it at night, they'll escort you off, because they're concerned of course of people being near the edge after dark and don't take any chances. The furthest part of the cliff is where people jump off, the lower part is further away.
Yeah, i think the highest point is 530 feetThat looks like a lower part to me.
As in, there have been been people that have survived it through landing on a ledge or if they have drove off it and the car has taken most of the impact, or some who stand at the edge contemplating it and certain patrollers have managed to talk them down or grabbed them off. Of course, it is recorded all of the deaths that have occurred, but the majority of people who go to the site get overwhelmed with just so how far down it is, that SI kicks in big time.what do you mean it's a 50/50 thing? the death rate is very high
right, but if you do make it off the edge, at the right spot, it's not 50/50 - it's now 99/1, probably! As in, there have been been people that have survived it through landing on a ledge or if they have drove off it and the car has taken most of the impact, or some who stand at the edge contemplating it and certain patrollers have managed to talk them down or grabbed them off. We could do with a golden gate bridge.Yeah, i think the highest point is 530 feet
someone on here has access to a 1000ft bridge onto a hard surface, with only a small fence to jump - no idea where in the world they are, but that would be amazingWe could do with a golden gate bridge.
yeah, i can't say i'm a fan of things like jumping either - there's time between the act and actually dying that i don't like thinking of. i'd rather it be instant.I think that many people have died by jumping off Beachy Head. It is a well known suicide location. It does look like such a nice place to die at but jumping terrifies me personally. I do envy those with the courage for it though.
is the 400 ft bit the point that sticks right out just back from the lighthouse in the striking photos, with no ledges all the way to the bottom...The first video is around the 350ft mark, the second at around 250ft (I estimate from researching in the past). The highest point to jump from is about 400ft; the 530ft point is not a place where there is a sheer cliff edge.
That picture is terrifying, like the ultimate SI trigger.
is that THE spot, the big one sticking out, just back from the lighthouse? That picture is terrifying, like the ultimate SI trigger.
