I mentioned this before, but I was hoping to gauge interest as my time begins to free up soon.

I'm starting to consolidate a lot of suicidology research into one place. I hope to create a book and bibliographies. Everything will be free online and motivated individuals can even contribute. It will be a critique and exploration. Right to die and other topics will be talked about too.

I also am debating about putting information into podcast form which makes it easier to listen and conversational in a sense.

Would people find this interesting? Useful? Help orient themselves? Empowering so that you can learn the language of the researchers and entities that aim to scientifically explain all of this?

Other thoughts/considerations?

I would strongly suggest that you don't do this until you are absolutely confidant that the information you are spreading is accurate and not misleading.

Information in such a public form will inevitably be a source of reference, so you have to be sure that you are giving people the truth, to the best of your knowledge, and that whatever you put out there is not going to have serious repercussions on anyone.

I hope to create a book and bibliographies.

How would you have have it published? This might be tricky as there is a lot of stigma around suicide and I imagine that most publishers would unwilling to publish a book of that nature.

It would depend upon the main premise of the book. So what angle are you coming from? Why do people commit suicide? What are motivating factors in suicide? The law and suicide? Are these the sorts of issues you mean?

Interesting perspective. You know there's literally tens of thousands of books about suicide. And I have a ton of original research so I'm fairly confident since I point to the original sources.

I would publish it for free using gitbook or a similar thing. Makes it easy to update, freely available, etc.

I already have books that actually go into those things. And lots of research. I don't think one book could possibly encapsulate it.

Instead I would like to build a useful bibliography so that people can go direct to sources. The truth is people will continue to write books and even write the "same" book. I don't want to do this.

Maybe a coffee table type book: portraits in suicide. Pictures, bios, etc.

I think that might be best as the books that are already out there are either novels telling stories of suicide, or suicidology books, focused on the science behind it.
Publishing an easily accessible, open resource may be an interesting alternative. I would like to hear how this one goes, @psychopomp.

I think that's a fantastic idea. Having a lot of information in one place that is easily accessible would definitely be beneficial to a lot of people. Great idea!

@brighter @lost_soul83 I will keep you updated. If you have discord feel free to message me. Especially if you want to get involved. I have a lot of projects and little things to do which would overtime be big. It would also be cool to make a community around such activities. It's a positive way to pass the time and I would like for us to collectively go through all of the suicidology literature. Informal and formal. In my eyes, if you want to change how people see these information, then "Art of War" tactics seem the best route. I am pro-choice so I also think the information can empower people to navigate their life as well and be grounded in their thought. (I also want to rid the world of those platitudes and memetics and have an honest conversation about things)

I'm not sure if any of this is actually meaningless (at least it will be interesting) It's hard to get a gauge since nobody has attempted this before, plus I'm a pragmatic nihilist.
