"Emman Atienza, a 19-year-old TikTok creator and daughter of Filipino TV host Kim "Kuya Kim" Atienza and Felicia Hung-Atienza, has passed away. She was found dead at her home in Los Angeles on October 22. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed her cause of death as suicide by ligature hanging. Her sudden passing has shocked her family, friends, fellow creators, and thousands of young followers who admired her kindness and honesty online."

I heard about hanging, I heard about ligature strangulation. But I never heard about ligature hanging. What is that ?

It's an odd headline. Ligature just meaning some material was used, which seems redundant. There's another thread on this somewhere. Quite tragic though. Apparently she long had mental health issues

I think she's getting criticized even here in SS before her death.

Personally, I think it's obnoxious to say this type of rhetoric to a mentally or physically ill person who comes forward about their ailments and someone who has a lot more privilege and had the time to get better and "grow out of it" tries to tell their story without advocating against the socioeconomic and environmental stressors that lead to most people becoming mentally ill *cough Emman Atienza* WHO SAID RHAT???

That being said, I don't think people sharing their personal stories on their own blogs are doing it with the intent of selling you a guarantee, but they want you to try, try and see the beauty in life before you do something permanent that you wouldn't have done had you attempted proper recovery.

Especially when you're young and your brain isn't finished developing and you haven't experienced most of life, which can vary from a lot of people because everyone is different, but there are so many things I now know at 19 that I didn't at 14 and you don't really realize how small your world is. It's why I'm waiting to CTB until I'm in my 20s or 30s.

Of course unfortunately life isn't fair and sometimes it really doesn't.

I never heard of this woman but I looked her up and she's from a rich family and constantly vacations with friends and travels. Seems like pretty generic content, I didn't see anything about mental health on her instagram. Did she really take her life bc of mean comments online? I think she had something else going on probably a mental illness, because she literally had a privileged upperclass life by all other standards.

There are just some things that money can't fix. I don't know much of her story but everyone has their reasons and their problems. As for online bullying that shit can really wear you down. Another example is Daniel Naroditzky, such a nice guy but was the target of a hate campaign for a year to the detriment of his mental health.
