I was just wondering how people have been helped on this site. So far you all have been so welcoming to me and I feel that I am not alone. I can't wait to get to know some of you better. Thank you guys for making my day even just a little bit better because this place gives me an outlet to let loose and talk. Was wondering how other people felt.

I think the biggest positive I've taken from this site is patience. Before I was on here I'd attempted to hang myself impulsively multiple times. Once I found this site and community, I really learned to take my time. I'm not actively suicidal right now but If i was, it wouldn't be impulsive. The idea this site encourages suicide is really misleading.

So true. All I've seen is love and compassion towards others on this site. (and that's all people should be seeing) The patience is remarkable and I'm sure it helps lots of people get through their days

Knowing you're not alone. I like to read stories from other people on here. In real life, it often feels like I am the only person in the world dealing with suicidal thoughts. It might sound off, but knowing there are others out there who also suffer... and actually reading their stories... it helps me in a way.

SS has given the peace of mind of being able to talk about various taboo topics, especially the topic of 'suicide' and death without judgment, patronization, platitudes, etc. Also, most importantly, it has allowed me to find information on how to obtain certain methods to CTB effectively (and peacefully - some methods are a peaceful death). By having that information available to me as well as having my method along with a community of people who support the choice between life and death, as well as respecting each other, it has improved my mental health. I'd say if it wasn't for this forum, I'd probably would have a more difficult time coping with life as well as not being able to find a reliable method.

While ultimately, I have decided that I will CTB later this year, in the last two years SS has been helpful to me, it's community and people at large as well as the staff and moderators keeping the place up and running, and I'm very grateful for that. Even after I CTB (eventually), I hope to pass on my knowledge and ideas so that future SS members and others who will pick up the torch will be able to use what I have to combat the pro-life, anti-choice mainstream culture and society.

I first came on this site last October never dreaming in a million years that I would find such wonderful and compassionate people who would not only listen to me without judgment, but would make me feel loved and cared for and accepted for the first time since my husband's death in 2017.
The people who malign this place don't take the time to get to know the people here and what it's about.
Yes, people discuss suicide and suicidal ideation and depression and other mental illnesses and so forth on here. But that's only part of it. The bigger part for me is that people listen to you and they hear what you're saying and they empathize with you, which is something many of us don't get from the outside world.
I will never be able to repay the people on the site for all the love and understanding that they've given me since I got here.
And as I've stated on a few other threads recently, I am grateful to the creators and moderators of this site for giving us all a place to express ourselves without fear of being thrown in a psych ward against our will just because we express an idea that isn't popular. The creators and moderators of the site obviously give us more credit for being intelligent and complex thinkers rather than just impulsive one-dimensional mental cases like the outside world does. We are more than our mental illnesses & our suicidal impulses. The creators and moderators of the site give us credit for having thought our decision out and don't jump to conclusions that we haven't thought through the consequences. Death is final. I think most of the people on this site are smart enough to realize that.
And of course, not everyone on here is suicidal. Many people come here because there are people here who they can identify with and share similar burdens with. This can make recovery easier when you know other people are going through the same things you are. You don't always get that in the real world, even in recovery groups. I think talking to people online may sometimes be easier for people than talking in person, especially when talking about issues that are so intimate and difficult to discuss.
I wish the people who malign the site and make assumptions and snap judgments about it would open their minds and spend a little time here so they could see what it's really about. There is a lot of good that comes from the site and there are a lot of people who have been saved by the site.
There are many people right now who are alive today because this site has helped them live for one more day. I only wish the people who want to shut the site down understood that.

New to the site, and for the short time I've been on here browsing and reading threads, I feel an overwhelming sense of calmness that I can't fully explain..? Like-minded people that are understanding and supportive. I've learned about methods that I had no idea existed and how to execute them without suffering as much as I had blindly done in the past (resulting in two lost vehicles and hospital stays). I feel like I have more information and that I'm not in as much of a panic to end my life as I was earlier, that I can when I'm ready and comfortable with the decision.

It's given me a place to feel normal after feeling so isolated from society my whole life. Before I found this place I would've killed myself in a very painful or messy way. I'm glad I have options for dignified ways out now and I hope one day people won't see pro-choice sites like these as such evil. Many people here have been suffering for a very long time, have dealt with mental and phsyical pain, jumped through fire and hurdles to try and get better from a young age. Sometimes things just don't get better. Not everyone gets a happily ever after. And those people deserve a place like this to help aid them in their decision to ctb.

It's a good question. Perhaps it's having a members death used against me by two different members for trying to help them or maybe it was being scammed (again by two different members) for N, that was fun. I'm not being woe is me though, probably had it coming. I'm a worthless piece of shit and deserve everything I get

I'm sorry that members would turn on you like that. This should be a place for understanding and compassion. I know you might be in a place right now where you can't see it but trust me, you aren't worthless. I've felt worthless countless times before but nobody is truly worthless. (try reporting those people if they are still on here because what you said they did shouldn't be allowed) My thoughts are with you

This! I was very impulsive before finding this forum. I don't immediately want to drive my car into a ditch or jump, I'm patient and waiting this out more carefully. Surprisingly, CBT hasn't improved my suicidal intentions (temporarily suppress maybe) but this site has done more than any professional help I've received in a long time.

Thanks for your kind comments and I'm glad I am able to experience some good times with this community until my end. Sometimes, I wished my talents and intelligence would give me a better life, but instead it only allowed me to see how messed up, unfair, and wrong this world is. I don't wish to be a part of this society, this fucked up world any longer than I have to. This is why I am tying loose ends and finishing up things so that when my day comes I will be more than 100% ready to go and also have zero regrets.

I first came on this site last October never dreaming in a million years that I would find such wonderful and compassionate people who would not only listen to me without judgment, but would make me feel loved and cared for and accepted for the first time since my husband's death in 2017.

100% this. The solidarity and peace in knowing that there are others who just... get it.
I've found that moreso than outright wanting to die a lot of people absolutely just want to be heard and listened to. Not swamped with handwave platitudes, just really want to be heard, even if not fully understood. Just heard.
