Just for fun, I want to find out the various ethnicities they give me. Not that it matters. I just always found it fun how some people are obsessed with that stuff, so I want to try to it myself. Maybe it's like the last connection to life I feel, lol.

that actually sounds nice, I have heard that these services also list people who are close to you genetically and provide ways to contact, maybe you should try to give it a go before CTB

Everyone is mixed. There are no hard lines when looking at all lineages across various nation-states, it just appears that way in these tests because they work with man-made categories (such as nations). It's just fun to see which mixtures they give me.
That's interesting, I did one a while ago and it's pretty unsurprising, mostly German and British with a bit of other Western European ethnicities. The funny thing is that once a month they email me saying they've updated my breakdown as more research is done, and it's always something like 4% French to 3%, and 1% Dutch to 2% lol.

Yeah, and I chose the cheapest one, lol. The more expensive ones give a better breakdown and find more material. Also what most people don't get is that biological material like DNA doesn't really recognize man-made categories like "German" and "Dutch" etc. Lol, but they are forced to stay within these borders because those are affiliations people want to know about.
I know what you mean. It fascinates me too. Not really the whole specific family tree geneology. More the broarder sense of where all my ancestors originated.

That's not even what fascinates me, I wish those ancestors had been antinatalists, hahahaha. What fascinates me is more the science behind these tests and how they interplay with social constructs (nationalities). By the way, DNA doesn't show ancestors and ancestors don't show DNA because you don't get DNA from all of them, or at least not equal amounts of DNA. What you want IS actually a family tree to show all your ancestors, haha, and a story of where they lived and had kids.
