Im running out of time...

I might need to accelerate my plans for CTB a month or two... I planned originally for June but may need to do it as soon as April... You may be wondering why? Well to make a long story short... my parents are increasing my "rent" from $300 a month to $1000 a month. Keep in mind the house I live in has no mortgage payments anymore and my mother has a great paying job... my father also has a decent one too... I feel like they are trying to take my money to the point of basically stealing it from me. Why do my parents try and make my life even more of a living hell?!

Sounds awful! Could you try to move far away on your own with the money they make you pay? And maybe send them a few $ if they need it?

They are probably nudging you to get a job or "get ahead in life" whatever that is while being blissfully ignorant of how bad off you really are. I am sorry you are in this situation. The worst kind of parents are the ones that don't listen to their children.. .

Forgot to add that I recently got a job lol... Coincidence? I think not...

Sounds awful! Could you try to move far away on your own with the money they make you pay? And maybe send them a few $ if they need it?

With the aumount I have... Moving out is not feasible plus my parents have basically forced me to stay at their place so they can "Keep an eye on me"

Oh.. They are probably doing it so that you don't have too much money to try anything fancy if you know what I mean..but that would be plain dumb.. How much money does one need to get a rope or a scarf anyway? It's much more difficult to get the motivation to do it, which their actions might be supplying you in plenty with. What a fucked up world we live in. In almost 99% of cases, I believe the parents are the worst enemies of their own children. I wonder if this could be an invitation to move out? Why not ask them directly? It should be clear that way.

Maybe this is the way they know of trying to help, my mother and aunts say that when there was a problem, their parents would hit them with wood, whips or anything that was within reach, but that was the way they were raised.
It seems like they care about you, have you tried talking to them about how things are and how you would like them to be?

I'm sorry to hear that. I can relate though as I'm running out of time as well. My mom is growing annoyed with me and she's asking me to contribute. She says that I shouldn't be living at home for free and as a free-loader, and that I should be doing something with my life. She says that I've already had two years since graduating college and she doesn't see or envision a future with me (living at home with her). She says that she's already let me live at home for the past two years, and she's mad that I wasted them. I'm planning ctb soon anyways, so I don't really care, but it fills me with stress and anxiety whenever she says things like this.

They are very different cultures, my family is partly from the south and partly from the north, it is not a bad thing when children continue to live with their parents, cars are very expensive in Brazil, it is not uncommon for parents to support the house and the children to buy the car and maintain it for the family to use.
In the city where I live, in the center west, the customs can be bizarre even for the rest of the country, they live crowded together, they don't leave their grandparents', parents' and cousins' side, the parents build houses in their grandparents' backyard, the children They build in the front and their grandchildren build floors on the buildings that already exist, even when they die they hold their wake in the backyard and if there is no space they hold it on the sidewalk of the house.

Sounds like a horror story. I am sorry for what you've been through.. You don't deserve to be treated like that. I have been treated similarly by people I placed my faith and trust in as well, who ended up gaslighting me and destroying my life, so I understand perfectly well where you are coming from. May I know where you are from location wise?

If they are forcing you to stay what's stopping you from refusing to pay? What would they do if you didn't pay up?

At least we can relate somewhat... I do not want to pay that $1000 a month since my parents have a combined salary of $200k. Mortgage already payed off from the house. If they want me to pay to live here... I'd be happy to pay for the utilities and food which comes to $600 a month for everything. But... nooooo they want to me pay $1000 a month... plus they will refuse anytine i wanted to move our from their place... (I tried to move but they found the moving company i was using and cancelled the move on me)
