I'm afraid of that but I kind of can't contain my glee about painless, peaceful suicide methods in some ways

I just get happy knowing there's a way out, and relieved

Will crush you like putting you in jail for being pro-suicide ?

Yeah

Or putting me in a situation where I have no choice but to become homeless (not that I was super great at holding down a job anyway)

Or punishing my family somehow (ie, shaming, causing them to become homeless)

And homelessness seems like an easy way to go to prison, also

I guess there are multiple ways someone very opposed to me or my views could fuck with me besides prison or homelessness but those are just the two most prominent and attainable

Edit: I think also that trying to hang myself a few weeks ago and realizing how painful it was really made me feel bad for all those people condemned to it without a drop-neckbreak

And while I hadn't thought of it as pleasant, I didn't realize how excruciating it was and probably would be if you stuck it to the end

I thought that was probably the "easiest" method to do under watch, too, but little did I know that often turns into a way of saving the state some trouble by executing yourself painfully

Well I guess people get put under watch or have their methods taken away after an attempt all the time in many countries, but I was mostly thinking about all the raids on members of Exit (whether in Australia or France or I think perhaps Spain) and others who got Nembutal taken away from them

Or helped their spouses commit suicide

Look up Phil Nitschke's Twitter he references those cases a good deal

Kevorkian did time in jail

This guy, also: https://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/may/22/las-vegas-man-allegedly-brought-assisted-suicide-d/

Most of those people get in trouble for assisted suicide but obviously the fact that we aren't born with a bottle of Nembutal in our hands means that someone is assisting us with it on some level

Plus if you get stopped from killing yourself, you end up in a psych ward and do that enough and without deep pockets at your disposal you will probably end up homeless

Or at least I think I probably would

And if you're homeless for a while there's a good chance you'll end up in prison

Sorry for being depressing, I can delete these posts

Yeah I heard about those kind of stories but as long as you don't commit assisted suicide and just talk about it I think you're fine. Of course if you end up in a psych ward after attempting that's another story.
Don't be sorry, it's depressing but eh it's a suicide forum, what else can we expect ?
Are you pro-choice for yourself or for a person you know ?

I want to kill myself (or at least always have the option to)

Also, if I mention to a family member that they ~'shouldn't worry about me because if things get too bad I'll just peacefully take my own life', and they say 'I support that,' and it's over a text or something, they could get hit with a charge and their life would be ruined (and they might not be able to have a peacful method of their own to fall back on because the retribution against those who offer such peaceful methods discourages that)

Also, if I get a peaceful method and decide to do away with myself painlessly eventually ever, but law enforcement can easily access what I ordered and where I plan to go through with it, they can burst in and stop me and have me sent away (theoretically)

That to me is very cruel and over-reaching

I don't want to just talk on a forum, I'd actually like to be able to have a peaceful way out if I so chose

I didn't know you could get in trouble by supporting someones death with their consent, even if you don't assist the suicidal. That's creepy.
I guess the safest way is Dignitas (I think that's how it's called) the company in Switzerland. Is it expensive ?

Well, I don't know if that's necessarily a thing (definitely could be more of one depending on where you are), but isn't there something like if you don't intervene in a suicide you can get in trouble?

I know prison guards and psych ward orderlies obviously have to stop it, and if someone calls an ambulance on you they're going to feel obligated to do it or risk losing their jobs

I'm sure family could probably get in trouble or at least people could call for litigation

Mmm yeah "failure to assist a person in danger" I see, but I'm not sure it applies if you commit suicide in a private place, alone. Sorry I don't know much about the law.

They don't have the power to crush your life for making that statement. A little paranoid...

Police have raided Exit International members' houses for Nembutal, right?

People get in trouble for simply buying the tank of helium for their spouses, or that woman in Ireland got charged for paying for her friend's ticket to Dignitas in Switzerland

I don't know how frequently they do jail time but the time a trial consumes and paying all the fees alone, not to mention the psychological stress of the ordeal, can probably wreck peoples' lives (or at least do a lot of damage)

You can be committed for saying you have a suicide plan, can't you?

Edit: Even if these were in the minority of cases, I wouldn't want to risk bringing about those repercussions on the off-chance I was one

Still pro-suicide

Just wary

*Also I'm kind of losing track of what points were already made in this thread (I'm not in love with the website's format), so I'm not sure if what I replied to you with there was super relevant

They wouldn't necessarily have to do it in so upfront a way, like through explicit legal channels

They could frame at as me "encouraging suicide" or something, or perhaps just post-mortem punishing those close to me
