You need to make sure you put the rope against your carotid artery. That's what makes one pass out quickly if pressure is applied. You need to experiment a little bit to find the right spot, it took me a while too. When you found the right spot and apply pressure (I heard 3kg of pressure is enough) you will feel floaty, dizzy and your vision will fade slowly. Then you pass out.
If your head feels like it is exploding or you're choking then that's the trachea and that's not a good way to ctb because it's very painful and long.
Maybe you should try partial hanging, more people had success with it.
