I get that vibe a lot as well. But there are older people on here. I think the younger people are a majority and they just stand out a bit more. Im 34.

I'm older, too. I feel like you do everywhere online. I belong to several activism orgs & everyone is so much younger than me. I tried Reddit, subs that at least used to be similar to this space (but no longer are), and besides the frequent aggression and rancor, the topics being discussed (mostly surrounding relationships) were really different from my life reality. I appreciate this site a lot. I haven't noticed any aggression or emotional cruelty here. I like to think that whatever our different backgrounds, we're all safe and welcomed here. So... Welcome!

"What makes a freethinker is not his beliefs but the way in which he holds them. If he holds them because his elders told him they were true when he was young, or if he holds them because if he did not he would be unhappy, his thought is not free; but if he holds them because, after careful thought he finds a balance of evidence in their favour, then his thought is free, however odd his conclusions may seem."

— Bertrand Russell, 'The Value of Free Thought: How to Become a Truth-Seeker and Break the Chains of Mental Slavery'

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

neuroplasticity & openness to experience is more or less a scientific way of saying: "the retaining of one's inner teenager (e.g. freethought, individualism, introspection, rebellion, thrill, imagination, curiosity, etc.) throughout the entirety of their existence." ...It goes without saying that those who retain self-awareness & freethought would naturally be more in favor of things like the right to die.

Even ravens exhibit a life-trajectory which bears striking resemblance to that of the common human: "Common ravens are known to steal and cache shiny objects such as pebbles, pieces of metal, and golf balls. One theory is that they hoard shiny objects to impress other ravens. Other research indicates that juveniles are deeply curious about all new things, and that common ravens retain an attraction to bright, round objects based on their similarity to bird eggs. Mature birds lose their intense interest in the unusual, and become highly neophobic." -- 'Common raven' wikipedia

Most people here are adults. I am 27 myself. The younger ones like Becca above are the minority here. The truth is the suffering doesn't choose people by age. Whether you are 12 or 82, you can suffer the same way, and want to die the same way.

Careful, it'll happen to you :-) It sneaks up on you.
I have heard that time goes incredibly fast between age 30 and 50 (maybe as young as age 25 to 50). I guess it's because people work their 9-5 and every week feels exactly the same. When every week feels the same and nothing changes, time goes by very fast.

I don't even work at the moment and it still goes by very quickly. Most of the time I'm broke so I'm just wishing time away until the next whatever payment or until my appeal, trying to spend as little money as possible. I remember when I first moved away from home, everything seemed interesting, even just going to the supermarket. There was so much new information. And then when I lived in different countries. Now every day is really very much the same. I live in a small town too. Every day is the same, the same people, the same needs that have to get met (eating, pooping etc). The only thing that changes is I get physically older and less attractive, and my health gets incrementally worse.
