I will never become a mother, the way I see it if you never exist, you never suffer. We live in a world with unlimited potential for pain, there is no limit as to how bad things can get. Life is completely pointless and unnecessary. I believe that someone must be delusional to see it as a good thing to bring a human into this world.

Seriously, really bad advice. When the kid reaches an age when they can look at you and say what's the meaning in all this, what would be said? They end up empty too in their 20s/30s and the cycle starts all over again.

Yes, I too am proud of not having kids. I have many health problems, one is a genetic connective tissue disorder that would have likely been passed on. So if I had a kid, they would have been saddled with my health problems and also not had me to focus on them. Some people should not be having kids but society tries to pressure everyone to procreate.

I feel my parents had me to take care of them which is a terrible reason to have kids.

I'm also glad not to have children. I'm told that's very selfish, but why would it have been better to bring kids into the world while being the poster child for "unfit parent"? I didn't want any potential kids to have similar health problems to mine as a child, or have massive psychological difficulties, or grow up feeling unwanted and alienated.

Bringing kids into this world, with more and more natural Desasters, war and people doing nasty stuff to each other, is kinda egoistic. I like kids but id rather adopt a kid that needs a family. But I am glad that I don't have kids

I guess it's a good thing, yeah. I want children. I just don't see it happening. I can't handle having a job for more than a few months without losing my mind and ending up in the psych ward. How would I ever handle having a child? Most likely I would end up ctb anyways and then leave a very traumatic experience for a child. So, it's better to go now than achieve that dream before going.

It is nothing short of insanity to burden oneself with children. Waste of time, money and ultimately, effort for something that perpetuates suffering and evil. I also generally find the concept to be primitive, barbaric, and mammalian.

From childhood I had always been adamant that I would never have children. I didn't see the point and I wasn't exactly a fan of children in general. Then, my wife gave birth to our first when I was 33 and our 2nd when I was 36. To say that they changed my life, is an understatement. Looking back, I was very selfish; and now, I'm only quite selfish! 😄

My children gave me a purpose and helped bring meaning into my life. I got better at dealing with bouts of depression and grew stronger with the increased responsibility. It's weird how that works. Previously, I would've expected the responsibility to cause debilitating levels of stress and anxiety.

It might not be for everyone. I can only report my own experience and urge others to keep an open mind. Being a parent can be hard work but, by the same token, nothing brings greater joy.

It's funny because once upon a time I talked about wanting kids with my partner who is now dead. He told me he couldn't see bringing a child into the world as it currently is as humane.
Back then I kinda agreed and let it go with that, now that he's gone.... Yeah, he was very right imo. Bringing another human being into a world like this is like teaching someone about suffering, and trying to cover it up with some nice things that are never permanent.

Ofc if I had a kid I know I could not ctb, but that's not exactly a good thing... It would be existing for the fear of destroying someone else if I exited.

Exactly, if anything it's more selfish to put the child in that position.

Having children is the most profound responsibility that one can have, and you don't understand how much I envy those of you who do not have that burden. I. being mentally ill and too young at the time when I had mine, did not understand how awful the position I put my kids in and myself by having them. I live in agony and mental anguish every single day of my life, wanting and NEEDING to ctb, but I can't leave them. I just can't. So here I am and here i'll be, God help them, God help me!

It's okay to have children if you can provide them a good environment, good genes, all necessary supplies and .. what I lacked growing up.. attention/love guidance and direction.. my father had no soul when I became a teenager… I'm so lost and unbearably miserable.. I became my own worst enemy.. I might've done ok for myself but he really didn't help me much.. he also died too early and left my mom messed up.

Another problem is parents have to work so hard to provide for themselves and their family.. they usually have no time for them when it really starts to matter.. for me it's like once I was old enough.. you figure it out.. mentality.. also military backgrounds run amuck..

So much success is built upon luck, health, environment, family, support and it sucks because everything can and will go wrong.. nothing is perfect but good people will know if their actually being selfish not having kids.. no one should be told their being selfish not having kids ESPECIALLY in this day and age.. it is a very stupid thing someone could say to you.

I don't have kids and will never have them but I wish I felt good enough.. we would all be in denial if we didn't admit that being a healthy kid from ages 1-10 is the best time of your life.. with good parents I can't imagine.. I didn't have it so good and I still think life was worth it just to be a kid.. now I want to die peacefully and feel like I'm suffocating everyday.
