I kinda agree with you I also think about all the evil that would be stopped
It is human beings who are evil, Most animals only kill in order to survive. Humans kill for fucked up reasons.

The button exists fwiw. This is where nuclear war today ends. The choice could conceivably be a real one for someone here at some point.

No. I wouldn't even chose to solely wipe out humans- although, that would be my preference. I like the idea of humans going extinct but, I hope we would do it by choice. (I doubt we will though.)

I agree that life is full of suffering but, I can't be sure about how other beings feel about it. So- it doesn't feel right for me to make the choice for them. That's God level thinking and I kind of despise Gods- imposing their will on a bunch of sentient, suffering creatures for kicks or whatever.

I also can't be 100% sure there isn't something bigger in play. I kind of doubt it personally but who knows? Maybe life having existed here has an overall good meaning. No idea what but, so much is unknown about life. It's like being forced to make a huge and possibly far reaching decision (possibly not of course) without knowing all the facts.

I find that brings up interesting ideas around creation though. Specifically by a creator- a God. If they had all the facts- presumably they did- they're omnipotent right? If they knew things would very likely or even possibly end up playing out like this on earth- why set it in motion? How can they not be a sadist?

No, not up to me to erase everything, nobody should have that power even with all the suffering. And yet, some countries have that power with nuclear bombs. But the thing is, not everyone feels they are suffering, there are actually some happy people out there and the planet with nature and wild animals don't deserve to die just because humans are evil.

I don't think anyone has the right to take the life of anyone else. So I would say no. However, I do know that anyone can be pushed into pressing that button.Life has a way of dragging you down and bringing you to your knees. Good thing a button like that doesn't actually exist. At least 90% of the people on Earth will have some point of time in their lives where they would press that button. Maybe even 100% of us.

Trapped in this Suffering

Yea I would definitely press it to eliminate all suffering on this planet as I think a world were some life has to suffer greatly and some are okay with it is worse than a world without any life at all. Its unfair we were forced here into this existence and some have to suffer so greatly when there is nothing to gain from having life to begin with as before we were created, we didn't desire anything, including wanting life to begin with.

Pressing the button while is a bit iffy as its forceful ending all life, nothing is really lost for people who were okay with life as I would assume this button would instantly and painless end the lives on this planet and as after death you can't regret or even know you lost your life making death not really bad at all for them and the people who wanted to die would benefit from this as they would no longer have to suffer. Over all more good happens from pressing it compared to bad.

I would say pressing the button is lesser evil compared to letting this terrible world full of suffering continue.

I just can't help it, I would press it. But I do understand the point of those who feel otherwise.
My personal reasoning? This world has gone to shit and I don't think it's going to end well anyway. The people that do have hopes and dreams and plans for the future- well if they don't believe in God ( I personally I'm an atheist) then they will just simply be gone and not exist or be able to have feelings about anything one way or another. And those who do believe in God- Well then they will still be up there reunited with everyone so it's not like they'd be alone.

No for a few reasons:
  • Alot of people genuinely have good lives and hopefully this will happen more and more
  • One person should not make the decision for everyone anymore than everyone should make the decision for one person
  • Even if life on this world is utlimately dystopian and brutal, I don't think we can stop life, and if we could there is no guarantee it would not show up again or show up somewhere else; If we are all born into a terrible machine of misery and suffering and cannot stop it, then we must try to make it better as much as we can and hope that someday it will no longer be horrific, but maybe even good

Yes.

Besides, I care little about the world these days. We are all overdue for punishment. Damnation. Eternal suffering.

At least pushing the button spares everyone the agony of waking up another day.

People already try to push buttons to make people stay alive who don't want to be. Seems unfair to end lives of people who do want to be alive.
