if you can choose your next life...

Would you choose a human life or an animal life or to have no next life? If a human life, what would you plan for yourself for your next try? If you'd choose an animal or insect or other kind of life, what would you choose, where would you put yourself, and why? I'm very curious if there are people who would want to be reincarnated in different circumstances and if there are people who would prefer never to reincarnate, or if there are people who would enjoy life if not for the implications of a human existence.

I don't know how I'd even answer my own question, but for the sake of starting a conversation, I might like to be an octopus next. They love short lives and they're known to be intelligent enough and dextrous enough to easily navigate their worlds and explore a lot in their short life, and I love the sea. Thanks for reading.

Pampered housecat is second on my list for sure :-) I like to sometimes entertain/soothe myself by imagining that after my death, I'm reincarnated as a house pet in my boyfriend's life so I can look after him that way. But I also agree if probably prefer nothingness

I'd love to be born a human again, but healthy -- without my heart issues. I'd also hope I'd be born into an affluent family with plenty of money to take care of my every want and need.
So I can have nice clothes and not look like trash.
So I can have nice meals to eat instead of cheap fast-food.
So if I'm in an emergency, I have everything I need and plenty of money to help me out of it.
So I can sleep in a comfortable bed at night.
So if I ever have trouble in school, or trouble socially, we can afford the best therapists and do it early on so I don't become a fuck up again.

But, I think affluent families are usually more close-knit and happier; so, hopefully I wouldn't ever need therapy because I'd actually have a family who is happy and who loves me...

That makes sense. I've gone back and forth about whether I'd want the same. For me, I would definitely wish to EITHER have a perfectly functioning body or a perfectly functioning and wealthy family. One of the other, at least. I wonder if having some hardship makes me stronger in some ways but definitely not THIS much.

And by the way, regardless of what you think of yourself and where your life has led, you're not a fuck up. I don't say that to diminish whatever consequences you're experiencing (I'm a "fuck-up" too) but because I try to believe that we do choose our paths before we are born to experience particular hardships or to teach others from our being a victim. But of course I don't know for sure how it all works and I would never try to diminish someone ELSE'S life tragedies by my own personal logic.

Just the ability to feel joy again. I think I used to feel that at some point in time. I don't even remember what it's like anymore. That's it.

I'm slightly envious that she got normal first gen immigrant parents who let her and her sister follow her dreams and allowed them to be confident in themsleves but I'm also happy for her

a normal life where i had really fallen in love in some unexpected funny way would be nice and ended up happy and a life in which there was little physical or emotional pain. it didn't happen for me in this life. i think i could have dealt with the physical or emotional pain, but never really had that romance where someone just fell completely in love with me and didn't want anyone else. i've had a really sad life, generally.

i don't think there are do-overs in life or... that there are other lives... but you never know... i was hoping recently i would fall asleep and wake up with time reversed, with things slightly different, and i'd meet someone who i fell in love with instead of being where i am at.

I wouldn't choose this dreadful, torturous and futile existence no matter what rather all I want is to never suffer ever again, to me existence really is an abomination, I see existence as the most terrible, tragic mistake that just causes harm and suffering torturing existing beings until non-existence takes away all anyway and all I want is to be free from it all, I just hope and wish to never suffer again with this dreadful existence I always saw as a mistake finally all forgotten about, I'll always find it so deeply undesirable to suffer in this existence no matter what.

Why are you asking me? I don't believe in any of that stuff. I merely wished for a better place just as a hopeful longing, not because i believe it exists.
