Well if you don't believe in any after-life and believe in non-existence after death then you would have no emotions as the brain makes you feel emotions and when you are dead, your brain is dead.

As someone having been injured by meds, I can confirm the dry and scientific explanation is correct :(

Do you want to have emotions after you die?

You won't have the body you have at the moment- we know that stays here and rots or, gets incinerated or whatever else. Really though- from then on out, all we have is belief or, non belief.

Presumably, you will need a physical body to express emotion in the way we do now- tears, laughter, shock etc. They all cause physiological changes in the body. How do you imagine it will feel to cry with no eyes and no tear ducts? Frustrating I imagine. Imagine all that pent up emotion and, no release.

I tend to think we'll feel nothing after death. Just the same as before birth. I tend to believe we need a living body with a heart beat to feel all the things we recognise as emotion now. Just my belief though- or, hope really now. I'm sick of life. I don't want to find there's even more of it after this.

Of course, memory is another issue. What were the first few weeks of your life like? Were you mainly happy or sad? Do you have any recollection at all of your first few months- maybe even years here? We were all still feeling emotions that young but, I doubt they even registered.

Is that important? Would you mind feeling things without remembering why? Without any sense of time maybe. Why would the afterlife necessarily be anything like this world/ life? Do you even want to hold on to your human attributes?

What is the dry and scientific explanation ?
That the "you" you know, is just your brain. Everything from emotions/thoughts/memories/what you call reality, is just formed by your head.

You can confirm this, by asking or knowing anyone with any kind of brain injury.

We already know a lot about how our brain works in this regard; However, we don't know about the fundamentals of the universe in regards to how a conscious experience exists/what happens after death, etc.

Most likely everything about 'ourselves' will be gone, together with the physical death of our brain and body.
Maybe our ""stream of consciousness"" will continue to exist in some form (possible ""reincarnation"", etc.) - we don't know.

So people with brain injuries aren't themselves ?
