This happened a week ago, and I'm finally ready to process what happened. It was so embarrassing, so I have tried to block it out. At first my psychiatrist was worried about me and made an emergency call. The police, ambulance and a doctor hurried up to my apartment and broke up my door. My nextdoor doormates stood outside and were so confused, but they were asked to go into their own rooms again. However, it's not so isolated across the rooms, so I'm pretty sure that they knew what was going on. After they made a quick physical examination and went through my apartment to search for medications and such, I was sent to the hospital for observation. I didn't know I was forced to be there, so I went the next day and headed to the airport to travel home to my mother. I was at the gate and minding my own business. Suddenly 4-5 police officers were right in front of me and told me that I had to come with them. I was so embarrassed. The airport was full of people, and they stared and took pictures. I was calm, looked down and followed them without any fuzz. They told me that I had left the hospital, and that they were worried about me. They wanted me do go with the ambulance so I could get checked up by a doctor. I was still mortified and couldn't really process what had just happened. They said that they found me at the airport because they had tracked my phone and conctacted different bus companies. I was accompanied to the doctor, who then wanted me to be involuntary committed. I stayed there for about a day, and I then left to the airport again and went home to my mother.

My mother, the doctor who released me and, of course, myself thought that the police showing up at the airport was too drastic and unnecessary. The positive think is that I now know how the system works in these situations, and how to avoid it if it would ever happen again.

I just want to write this somewhere. I know that people can make up their own mind about why it was so dramatic, but it's not anything more to the story than what I'm telling. I'm just complety mortified about the dramatic events, and what my doormates now think of me, and what everyone at the airport was thinking when I was led out by several police officers.

Take heart in the fact that while this was humiliating to you, the people in the airport had probably forgotten about it within an hour. The people that live in your building will have forgotten about it by the end of the holidays. I am sorry that this happened to you.

No, I wasn't. They have several ways to track the phone. They can send an "invisible message" that doesn't show in your phone and track your location. They can also locate your phone to which telephone pole (I don't know the correct English term) it was last connected to. I think the only safe way is to remove the batteries.

Thank you for your reassurance. :notsure:

Stop and Frisk. Any time you see a person moving furtively. You would think police have better things to do. But No ! they have to help keep people alive, who want to die, but god forbid they prevent a murder ..No a crime has to be COMMITTED before they investigate.

Yes, very quickly. I was there for about 20 minutes before they arrived. I can't really believe that they put so many resources to find me so quickly. I wasn't in any immidiate danger or doing anything criminal. They probably used the cameras at the airport to locate my exact location at the gate, so being at the airport isn't really the best spot to be. But again, I wasn't really expecting to be tracked down. I just remember my heart beating so fast when I saw them.

They can track you with other technology too. Laptops, pagers, tablets, fitbits, not just cell phones. It's mostly in real time and it's often through Google, Apple, or social media location tracking.

If they need a warrant it could take a day or two. But if they view you as an imminent threat to yourself or others they won't need a warrant and can track you immediately.

Wow this is fucking awful to read and I am sorry you had to endure this.

Are you a celebrity or a member of the wealthy or ruling class? Does your mother have connections in law enforcement? Were you classified as a homicidal or terroristic threat?

Because for them to expend resources such as this on an average person who does not meet the above criteria is very alarming. What is their end game?

Wow best example to keep everything shut in and don't tell no one. It's hard however because it ain't easy to endure. Well, you can run but you can't hide forever, one time comes always and they want us locked up forever.

I'm just an average person who's on the right side of the law. I kind of froze because of all the drama, so I didn't have it in me to ask a lot of questions ufortunately. I just asked why they were there (the health care was worried about me) and how they found me (tracked my phone and got in touch with bus companies). It's not common in my country that so many police officers show up in public, so other people at the airport was so curious and stared, and some took pictures as I've already said.

That's why this is so especially alarming to hear about. Like, what could they have possibly had to gain from doing this to you, like why were they doing this to just a regular average law-abiding non-criminal like yourself. It really is terrifying. I'm so sorry it happened to you.

I am so sorry, love. You have nothing to be embarrassed about, I am sorry you had to deal with that. Them showing up like that must have been so traumatic for you... That is outrageous. They are doing more harm than good by doing things like this.
My heart goes out to you. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
