  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I won't say the name. Some might know the platform. It is a short message platform which should give you the feeling you are anonymous. Of course they have your IP and could report you if you talked openly about suicidality. The messages get deleted after 1-2 days.

Honestly, the feeling of (alleged) anonymity combined with the short limit of characters makes the worst out of two worlds. Many people there are assholes. It reminded of the descriptions of Reddit.

The people are overly cynical. I think the short character limit avoids substantive conversations which contributes to this cynicism. Not all but many there are just trash.

Example: A man describes how frustrated he is barely getting matches on dating apps. First reply friendly and compassionate. Second one something like. "Bro why do you complain I get 300 matches each week. It is not the fault of the app. You have to work on yourself". This is simply the whole platform. Anonymous people shit on you and have fun with it. There is no post history. You have no account name. People just make shit up. The app has the motto "Good vibes only" and I know why they have this motto because they realized this is the main issue of this app. Ruthless assholes. As if the internet wasn't full of them before creating that app.

Some people use this platform for dating. I don't know whether I should try it. But you can get fooled so easily. Catfishing seems to be pretty popular.
There are often posts like "I am a woman, in my twenties bored and open to fun/for everything this evening." I assume most of these posts are created by assholes to make fun of other men. But it is effective. So many men answer to these posts. You can send requests for a private chat. Many men then try to persuade the woman by impressing them to spend the night with them.

Tbh I think it would rather remain my dignity if I simply paid for sex. Some people however report they had hookups on this app. I wonder what the ratio is of getting humiliated and having an actual woman texting you/getting laid. My main goal would be getting into a relationship and not sex. But the whole concept makes me paranoid about getting fooled.

All in all this experience made it clear to me how much I appreciate my Sanctioned Suicide community. This place is really a safe haven. The rest of the internet is disgusting.

Anonimity makes people bring out the most impulsive part of them. It is often being the asshole they wish they could be to everyone else IRL. I'm sorry you had to go thru this. I'm glad you're here with us, though.
