From monday morning or so to Friday afternoon (Adelaide time), I got DNS error for sasu's .net and .site pages, while ssverify remained up

but, I had a PC that gets notifications, and it got 2 sets of pings...

the 1st ping... I thought "probably older notifications"... then 2nd time, I thought "hang on!", tested with windscribe, and I'm BACK!

are you just using your ISP's default DNS server or what?.. you can change DNS servers if you want..
if the site is only working with your VPN then it's because the VPN is using its own DNS server..

I think I am (tho I tried loading it at uni over their wifi, over my mobile data, and over wifi at home).

and yes, windscribe does have its own dns server... lemme test with windscribe off.

Update: I turned off the vpn and tried clicking a suggested link, and my browser said sasu was unreachable, so it is not just the dns

what makes you think that isn't a DNS problem then?.. when you are using the VPN it is (by default) probably using its own DNS server which seems to have sasu's real IP in its cache, but then you turn the VPN off and so your device not only isn't using the VPN to route traffic through but it also falls back to using your non-VPN DNS server and *that* DNS server might have a wrong/outdated IP for sasu in its cache..

you can try to set your DNS server to some thing else to quickly test it if you want.. 8.8.8.8 is the google DNS.. 1.1.1.1 is the cloudflare DNS.. so try one of those (with VPN still off) and see if it gets sasu working again..

because dns cache time runs for several minutes, even if VPN is then turned off.

tho good idea to test anyway.

update: set private dns to one.one.one.one (the numeric IP didn't save) and sasu works, nice, can save VPN bandwidth in case it is torrenting time
