I sat beside a girl in class yesterday and mustered my courage to ask to add her on social media. To my surprise she agreed and we messaged each other for the latter half of the lecture. I know this will probably lead to nothing, but I made progress and this experience boosted my confidence.

Do you expect something specific from this? My advice to all kinds of relationships is to approach people without any kind of expectations and just try to live good moments together. I don't think anyone likes to talk to someone who expects something in return.

I myself still feel somewhat nervous around pretty girls (that I know are queer) and very seldom approach them without feigning a practical reason (like asking them a question), so the fact you actually asked to add her on social media is pretty bold by comparison. Big props to you.
