Okay I've just really screwed things up.
I'd been sober for 2 months but today was the day. I was thinking of getting drunk and happy and I felt so tempted to drink alcohol that here I am.
I bought booze and I'm getting drunk AF!

I'm feeling GREAT right now but of course I know that tomorrow, I'll feel like the biggest failure on Earth! It's as if I was getting happily drunk but my morally righteous consciousness is still out there telling me how much I suck haha.

Anyway, I'm not perfect. I wish all the people surrounding me could understand that but unfortunately they can't.

I guess I'll have to quit alcohol some other day.

Having said this, CHEERS and remember, I love all of you! You're always helping me and are amazing individuals!

#SSRocks

Best regards,

Matt

Try not to let this set you back, everyone has slip ups.
2 months is such a long time and you should be proud of that, maybe next time try and beat that so its something to aim for? A way to motivate yourself?
As for right now, enjoy yourself and I hope tomorrows hangover is kind to you

Managing to stay sober for two months after struggling like you have is no small feat - you've certainly worked very hard and I hope that you can acknowledge that much. For it's worth, I'm proud of you, Matt. I'm sorry that tonight did not go as planned and that you've encountered a bit of a lapse but these are not unheard of in the journey to recovery. Recovery is seldom a linear process and it is something that occurs by degrees. Even if you slip up here and there, what is important is that you continue to work on maintaining a general upward trend. After everything you've dealt with, you've done so incredibly well. I believe that you are capable of building a life for yourself that brings you satisfaction and contentment.

Its not a failure yet. It depends on what you do starting tomorrow. If you dont resume drinking and go straight back to not drinking, its actually a success because you are building strength on managing slips or setbacks. If its your first time trying to quit drinking, just in case you dont know, be prepared for a callback effect the following days.

You also have a lot going on for you if you have so many SS friends to reach to every time you slip and you feel no shame sharing your failures, etc with them.

Best of luck WornOutLife. You dont suck, 60 days is a lot.

You got this, dude. The path is never a straight line. You've done so well thus far! It's not a step back, just a bit of an uphill climb, you'll have that. Tomorrow is a new day. Just stay hydrated!

2 months is an accomplishment. You're allowed to trip on a long hike.

I'm sorry your suffering, if you want to stop drinking stop again tomorrow

2 months is pretty impressive. And one little setback is not the end of the world. So, don't beat yourself up; that's my job! It's what you do after that matters. Just keep pushing forward.

Well think of the positives: two months is amazing and now you've got two months of recent sober experience/routines so you can incorporate what you've learned into whatever you decide to do in the future.

We've got depression and alcohol hits us just right, so it's not exactly unrighteous.

You're no failure just a human seeking some relief.

1461 hours is 2 months. If you'd been drinking for 12 hours that's not even 1% of the overall time you've been sober. My maths is shocking but if you look at it as 1% and start again it doesn't feel that bad

Giving up booze is no easy task especially when you can legally buy it every where. Not to mention how much its advertised in basically EVERYTHING. You should see the 2 months as a notch to surpass rather than a failure.

2 months is impressive, I really wouldn't be so hard on yourself.

Can't you just go back to moderate drinking now? You've proven you can stay off the booze for 2 months, so just go back to drinking once a week or something?

Update:

Thank you very much for your words and worrying about me. There's no doubt you're the best.
I had a terrible hangover during the morning and was very suicidal but fortunately, I'm feeling better now.

I guess you're right. Two months is a lot and I've probably developed a habit so as to drink less frequently at least.

Today, I start from zero. It won't be easy but I can't change the past.
The only thing I can do is create a better future.

Hugs to all of you and thanks again !!!
