I bought my gun months ago. I still keep it in a drawer. It has a trigger lock on it but the key is in my old clock. It's unloaded but the ammunition is in a small fire safe with passport and birth certificates and stuff like that. I look a the faux leather case the gun came with every day. I usually don't take it out of the drawer because I know what it looks like. I practiced with it at the range to learn how to load it and shoot it and it works as intended. I even practiced firing it in my mouth a lot with the cylinder and bullets removed so the hammer just fell on air and it clicked. I know it would work just fine.
Every day I think, "if I weren't here I wouldn't be able to answer questions or do things for other people and they would have to go elsewhere for their needs. I think of it every time something stupid happens. Work came up with a severe emergency necessitating work all weekend on the Thursday before July 4.
I feel like humans no longer matter as people and I'm a big part of converting their humanity into cogs in the machine. That's all people in business want from me: "how do we hire fewer staff and pay less"
Employers want hard work and on call and on demand out of their employees but also a sense of love for the company for even giving them a job. And I've stoped caring.
