I'm doing this attempt now, out of curiosity to see how possible it is.

It's...

Lying COMPLETELY immobile (except fingers on a phone) for 24hrs to see if rhabdomyolysis will occur or not, and to see how doable it is to push through the pain.

I'm just curious what it'll be like. So I'm trying it. I know it'll be painful, and I'll probably fail, but... I've had kidney failure before from rhabdomyolysis (when I was unconscious), and it almost killed me, so...

I'm quite curious to see how it works out to try intentionally. I'm already semi catatonic, barely ever move a muscle anyways.

I'll let y'all know in a day or two if anything works out, lol. Worth a shot, I feel like.

Note: I don't recommend anybody else try this, as it's unlikely to cause death, and highly likely to be very painful. It's highly doubtful a conscious person could even do this! It's just an experiment to see what the human mind is capable of persevering through, for the most part.

Interesting! I could never do that. I can't sit still for more than about 30 seconds. No will power whatsoever. Good luck, looking forward to you reporting back

I find the more I practice this (been practicing giving myself blood clots in my legs by not moving them), the dramatically easier it gets

I'm worried youre going to do irreversible damage to yourself. You don't want to spend the rest of your long life living with stroke conditions you caused!?

Call it a test of will. If it was that easy to severely damage and potentially kill one's own self by doing something like this, then everyone here would be doing it, now wouldn't they?

Just realised that this the reason my legs got strained for a good while once I streched

Might have to do this on the floor rather than in bed, though. I get the feeling it needs to be a hard surface. Might just end up giving myself bed sores by trying this. But hey, we'll find out. Consider this practice for a full attempt on a hard surface later on, but I've already been laying completely motionless for hours at this point, so no use breaking the attempt now.

Edit: this guy got it in ~4 days lying in a hospital bed: https://sports_medicine.cureus.com/articles/246714-alcoholism-and-immobility-induced-rhabdomyolysis-culminating-in-hemodialysis?score_article=true#!/
And with Rhabdomyolysis, when you get it, if you don't get dialysis, and aren't in a hospital, you die.

I got it in 24hrs before, but was unconscious on my left side in the woods. I lost an absolute ton of muscle, had to walk with a walker for months after and it's still hard to move my left arm above my head, 3/4 of a year later. Looks like somebody shot a chunk out of my shoulder there's so much missing muscle.

Another edit: apparently dehydration is a SIGNIFICANT factor in whether or not somebody's kidneys will be able to tolerate the extra protein floating around in the blood, and whether or not they will become damaged by this or not. Good news is, my kidneys are already at 60% capacity, so they won't be able to tolerate as much. Hopefully. All part of the learning experience.

are you allowed to shift from side to side or front to back? or only one? I have toyed with the thought of sitting in my gaming chair for an extended period of time but my bony ass starts to hurt after about an hour. I self harm by smoking and eating food that makes me have an autoimmune reaction

Nope, can't move or shift at all. The hurting means it's working. That's literally the goal. The more it hurts, the more it means muscle breakdown is happening, and the faster the process. Theoretically though, based on all the case reports I've seen, it can definitely happen and require dialysis simply from lying in bed for too long without shifting weight. Also happens at a very high rate in catatonic patients. The good news is that the pain (according to reports of people who fell and couldn't get up) peaks at about a 6 or 7 out of 10.

I'm at about a 2-3/10 currently. Trying to decide if I should focus on my back muscles. That seems to be where most of my pressure is situated on currently. This is an experiment after all, to learn from. It's kind of fun. Wonder when it will really turn into a chore. Not sure how I'm going to handle sleeping. Don't want to move while asleep. This method might require staying awake, not sure.

I've never heard of this. interesting. i figure even if im shifting around, moving as little as possible in conjunction with the cigarettes and two monsters a day will help contribute to a heart attack which would be so much easier to accept for my family. i am a pro at bed rotting though.

Here's an interesting case showing how possible this actually is: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2598545/

Edit: Experiment is called off for now, had to get up and get the door unexpectedly... 😔
