I've already tried hanging myself four times, which didn't work. The SN seems like a decent way to go, but I can't take any kind of anti-dopamine medication without causing my chronic akathisia to go back to the homicidal, where is the nearest train/highest building, I'm just going to rip my skin off level of severity. I have a sensitive stomach, so that method will no doubt make me vomit. I also ran into full bottle of ativan, left over from when my mom died of cancer. I don't believe in the type of stuff I"m about to say, but it really seems like all of this is coming together for a reason. I'm not even in one of the "severe" moods right now. But I just got this huge sigh of relief. The only problem I have nooo idea how to load and fire a gun so there is still some anxiousness about that, considering it would be hard to out the house with my brother here.

That's what I'm currently doing. Also, don't think I'm going to stay in the house for this one.

I have to agree … I think since you have no experience with a gun you should definitely research it.

Oh for sure. I'm definitely going to familiarize myself with and know exactly what I'm doing before anything.

@ohhgeeitsme please, PLEASE do research on this if you are unfamiliar with guns. I don't mean to encourage or discourage you either way. There's a wealth of knowledge on this megathread:

This is something I'm also wondering, as the gun owner is my father (I just moved in with him). I live in Louisiana and the last thing I'd want is for him to get in any kind of legal trouble. I found the gun below his bed when I was searching for more family photos. it was unloaded, but a box was next to them. I would never try this until I had more practice with guns. It makes me too nervous simply going through with it without having any idea what I was doing. I wouldn't definitely wait to get proper instruction and test shoot it first.

Good deal, that sounds like you're thinking smartly. I would check out the laws as well, as leaving a gun out like that might get him in loads of trouble. Take care!

If you do not have any experience or training on how to use a firearm, this will be a very bad idea. A lot of things can go wrong and you will end up in worst condition then you are now.

This is why I keep saying over and over that I'm going to have training first.

If you are under 18 your dad will most likely go to jail for it and might still go to jail for it if you are older plus he will blame himself for the rest of his life.

I surely couldn´t do that. When I was 18 I knew where my dad kept his key for his gun safe and even though I planned on killing myself back then there was no way in hell I would ever use his guns because I knew he would blame himself for it and my mom most likely would too and imo it´s selfish! Suicide in itself itsn´t selfish we are trying to stop the suffering we didn´t asked to be born so we have every right to decide when to die.

But I don´t know you and your family relations if you parents have been abusing you and ruining your life then I see no reason why you shouldn´t use his gun since he deserves it but if you have had loving parents like mine I would say it´s extremely selfish I am even struggling with wanting to use my own gun just because I shoot at a gunclub with my dad.

How are you going to pull that damn trigger? Once you know exactly what you're doing and know that the gun and ammo and technique you're using are sufficient for a good suicide, how do you feel about your SI? I only ask because I have been contemplating firearm death since last June. I've had all of my supplies and practiced using my rifle since October. I wanted to go out in December but despite how much I thought I wanted to die I just couldn't do it. I was holding the gun, loaded in a safe spot, all I had to do was aim, cock and fire. Do you anticipate any hesitation? Or do you think you'll just load, aim and shoot without a thought?

I agree with everyone here, it is better to be as prepared as possible before attempting because an attempt with a firearm is a one shot deal (pun intended) and there is no redo if you mess up as you would likely end up with permanent injuries if you fail. It is very important that you know all that you can know (the more the better) about how to CTB with a firearm (whether it is a long gun or a side arm (pistol/revolver) as there is a difference between the two). Finally, you can never be too careful with a firearm because of the impact it would have if you fail (you want to be as close as possible to 100% error free). As for SI, what may work for others may/not work for you, but a general advice, some alcohol, meditation, music, and also just repeated practice and getting comfortable with dry-firing will help a long way (again may vary from person to person but that's the general idea). Anyways, I wish you the best and hope you find peace.
