  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I am 24 and never had a job no employer will ever hire me. I have done volunteering work throught my life but employers don't care.

I will be competing with people who have worked since they were 18 . I am at a major disadvantage never working in my teens and my early 20s. I have ruined my entire life

I have given up applying for jobs as I don't see the point anymore. No one ever gets their first job at 24.

I feel you. I'm your age and I lost all optimism ages ago, after a string of terrible work experiences. I was a NEET for a while but as you know that's difficult to sustain. What a cruel reality we inhabit, that our livelihoods depend on being favoured and selected by an employer, at the expense of our fellow humans (if you get a job, you've denied others that job). It really isn't much better than the barbaric natural selection process of the wild. While we have to stick with the interview/CV game for now because we've no better option, it will never be a good thing.

I somewhat relate to you.

What you could do is create some assets that you can present to them as proof of your competencies:)

Just walk to the nearest convenience store and ask for an application. Even a little bit of experience should open your mind up a bit.

If you don't work, you're a drain on society and a parasite, but if you want to work, you'll have to beg for it and pretend to be someone you are not. The only jobs you don't have to beg for are those where you will be treated like a subhuman and looked down upon.

If you have access to a vehicle, then anyone can do Doordash, Uber eats, or something like that. no interview required

I feel this so badly, just got rejected from a job I had my heart set on and now I have no idea what the hell I'm supposed to do or where I'm supposed to go from here, besides giving up. Am I just supposed to be stuck working in a Tesco for the next 50 years? I want to CTB just at the idea of that.

I will say though that volunteering experience you have isn't worth nothing and there's a couple of places you can go to for help.

When I was about to graduate I sent out about 700 applications, even to neighboring countries. No result. Then I got a job through a contact. The boss didn't even look at my resume, I got hired because someone who means something mentioned my name.

I knew how the job market works so I was prepared for something like this to be the outcome, but it was still a strange experience. It also taught me the importance of kissing up to people. You're completely socially paralysed if you don't have clout.

My friend it's never too late to start. Many opportunities are out there.

But I understand the frustration. Peace be with you.

I was fully qualified tradesman and couldn't get a jobs, so its not just people without experience that can't find work!!! Its pretty much luck of the draw, as employers are only going to read the first 10 or so applications and then probably find a candidate, they aren't going to read every single one that applies thats for sure.

what i can say is that, i went back to college after bumming around for many years at the age of 24-26 and did a course that ended up being 3 years(should have bee n 4 but i did it quicker) and then ended up with my own successful business!

but i'm not here to judge as i don't know your exact circumstances and don't judge, its your life and choices to make

wow, congrats. if I may ask, what brings you on ss then?

maybe I need to stop assuming that everyone on ss is a failure, career wise. I can't help it. knowing that I'll never have a decent job is what makes me suicidal
