I'm assuming they mean when someone uses a picture of themselves as their icon/picture, instead of hiding their true appearance with random pics like most people on here do. Presumably because its easier to not view us as "real people" that way lol.

When the internet became popular, most people started seeing it as a way of presenting themselves. And thus the need for anonymity left and was replaced by a need to self-market.

Think that was the corporate idealists who captured the market like google, Facebook amazon. If someone can see an opportunity to exploit others for their benefit they will.

Normally I'm careful on the internet, vpn's fake emails etc. But being at the point I'm at now I genuinely couldn't care less what's the worse that could happen.

I don't use pics of me online because I don't like the way I look. I'd also just prefer to be anonymous but people can do what they want. I don't have a strong opinion about it either way.
