You work for mental health services and are on this site !
Are medical notes altered if u request them after a complaint.?

Yes - working for mental health services doesn't make you immune to struggling with your mental health ......

In my experience things have been added after a complaint and or information has been missing. This is probably less likely now most notes are electronic. However this for me allows for certainty that no one is aware of the complaint so has the foresight to remove / add or change anything.
I just don't trust these "professionals", why did they choose this profession in the first place? What are their intentions... certainly not all wish to truly help.

I started working for mental health services after a long career within the NHS in another role. I had suffered with my own mental health conditions and had experience of the system.
I wanted to be able to care for people and show them compassion, empathy- to use my experiences and what I had learnt at university to help people to live with or recover well.
Dont get me wrong - it's frustrating I often see people who don't seem to care , who have chosen the wrong path in life or have been worn down by the system. I also see people fighting so hard to make a change to a system that isnt working , people going above and beyond.

This is not to dismiss the experiences anyone has had, believe me I have and continue to have problems as a service user and someone who works on an acute mental health ward (when I am well )

Just know that for as long as I am around .. my inbox is open to anyone who needs some support, I will do my upmost to help . There are people who care x
I live in East Devon.
Do I have to ask my GP or can I self refer?

i have sent you a PM with some info about specialist units in your area for personality disorders. I'm not sure if I can share in case it was against the rules.

In my experience you will need to be referred by a health professional GP /psychiatrist but each area with will be different x

Even before I had finished reading your OP, I could tell that you were dealing with the NHS

It's a good system if it's done right and the funding is there, but it's just not working as they are too underfunded at the moment and too stretched.

What I appreciate about England is the PIP. It's such an amazing initiative. When I started having panic attacks in my job I just had to swallow a hand of pills and go through the day

No, I'm not. I'm so sorry for assuming it is easy to get... I just heard about it and it seemed as such a foreign concept... In EU countries you're just kind of expected to work no matter the diagnosis. Apart from NL afaik

I got DLA when I was younger pretty easy but PIP is impossible to get
It's the same here too, have to work unless you have a terminal illness, but even then that's still pretty hard to get PIP for

I haven't tried applying but my mum was on DLA and tried to get into PIP and she had her application refused. I also know someone who coughed up blood during his appointment and they still rejected it.

Damn, sorry about your terrible treatment. Don't have anything to say except hopefully you're able to get a better treatment somewhere else.

Having a BPD diagnosis fucks you over when it comes to mental health support! The crisis team always discharge me immediately because they see the BPD label and a lot of them don't know how to respond or have a lot of prejudice. So far I've had these reasons for discharges
- thre's nothing they can do for people with BPD
- hospitalisation doesn't help
- I'm 'too unstable' and 'not unstable enough'

Do you have IAPT in your area? It probably won't be enough given how you are but hopefully something will be able to happen?

Are you me???
Cause too stable for inpatient, and too unstable for therapy :''')

Thank you.
I was going to go private at 50 quid a session, but I definitely can not afford it due to my husband getting laid off due to the virus.
We could only just about afford it before.

PIP doesn't mean you aren't able to work - I get PIP and I'm employed . My PIP is for my mental health
You just have to be so clued up about what to say and what not to say . It's a night mare and so unfair

They didn't even help me.
For the past 3 years, I have been trying my hardest to get therapy.
I got referred to the local community mental health team.
Saw a psychiatrist, got prescribed medication.
Saw someone every 2 weeks who assessed me to see if I was severe enough to receive therapy.
She said I could not get therapy, didn't give me a reason why and didn't offer me any alternatives.
Saw the psychiatrist again...by this time I had tried to hang myself twice.
So the psychiatrist had the nurse asses me again. She said no, yet again.
Tried hanging myself, yet again.
Told the psychiatrist, yet again.
She had the nurse see me for one more session to teach me some techniques which I've already tried before.
Didn't help.
In my last phone call with the psychiatrist she asked me if I still had the rope and still had a plan. I answered yes to both of these. She still discharged me in that same phone call.
She said if I was concerned for my safety, to go back to my GP and they will refer me back.
Then I will have to go through this whole process again.
The NHS is underfunded, so it is partially the reason I couldn't get therapy as well.
This whole 3 years have been a waste of time.
I don't want to have to kill myself, but it is the only option at the moment.
Hello. I am really sorry you went through this. I can relate so much, since both my therapist and psychiatrist refused to continue working with me in the past, stating that I am beyond their competence. It felt awful, I couldn't stop crying after in public places, which was quite embarrassing.
It's hard not to lose hope afterwards, I understand that. What is your plan now, if you don't mind me asking?

I have no idea, I'm completely lost.
The original plan was to go to a private therapist would we could only just afford.
But now I can't even do that as my husband got laid off due to the virus, so I definitely can't afford it now.
I really don't want to have to kill myself to escape this pain

Im glad you got it without a fight. I had to attended a face to face interview and was literally grilled and questioned for an hour and a half.
It was horrendous. I did get it in the end but it was so traumatic

I've heard some awful stories about it, when it comes to the review mid next year I am going to opt out of it, (If I make it that far :pfff: )
I don't understand why they make it so hard, for some they are clearly needing it,
