As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.
It's almost amazing that that film got actually made in a Hollywoodian context. It goes so much against all the norms of society and the necessary "feel happy" mandate of Hollywood
But that's the way most movies go. You always have to have some twist or some turn of events in the end. I don't think it undermines the messages in it.
It seems like Trump is the new Hitler of any discussion. Whenever things get too difficult, just summon their name and compare them. Cmon dude, seriously? Wtf does Fight Club have to do with Trump? Can't even talk about a movie or philosophy these days without some moronic statement being made about Hillary/Trump Liberals/Conservatives, blah blah blah. Learn to think ffs!
Supporter? I won't judge but it seemed to touch a nerve. Otherwise you're overreacting for no reason. I didn't bring it up for the sake of it, it's relevant.
Notice how I mentioned both sides of dumb politics in my post. You'd have more ground to stand on if there was someone actually decent running against him. Democrats would have had a better chance if they had a crack whore run against him. Being Russian, I am slightly biased because that cunt would insult Russia on a daily basis when she held a position. I couldn't open up the news without reading about her comparing Putin to Hitler or how bad Russians are. But no, that does not mean I'm some brainless supporter.
I'm just sick of morons constantly bringing up Trump/Hillary/Liberals/Conservatives in every god damn fucking conversation on the internet. Can't even watch a single Youtube video without someone in the comments somehow managing to make some connection.
Use your own head and stop thinking everything in the world revolves around one person or one set of political values.
I'm not stupid. Just to be clear. Of course this being the internet any idiot can say that. See my other posts and decide for yourself. Or watch The Machinist if you haven't
"You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are not your bullshit political beliefs. You are all singing, all dancing crap of the world." (Thanks for the new signature idea lol)
What does the Machinist have to do with anything? Just a movie about an anorexic dude who feels bad about running over a kid or something. Sure it was neat, but not even close in terms of mental stimulation and meaning compared to Fight Club. I enjoyed the scenery in the movie (machines, airport, atmosphere, etc) much more than the story because it was rather dry and dragged out too long for what it was.
No it's not similar in that way. It just belongs to that same genre of mind benders. Memento too. Now that one really has some insight into the human condition
Ooh, Memento was an amazing film. Every time I watch it I gain fresh insight. The music was so touching, and so was the whole story. I think that's definitely one of the best films made. I hate to say things like this because it makes me feel like those old geezers that always bitch about everything back int he day vs now. But I do notice a trend of shitty movies. There's less and less "mind benders" as you call them, and just shitty remakes of things or super hero movies. I'm so fking sick of superheroes.
"I wanted to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all those french beaches I'd never see..."
It still amazes me how unique and thought provoking that movie was. So many philosophical quotes and deep thoughts. What are your thoughts about it?
I like the nihilistic aspects of it. When you focus on those, the whole message can become quite liberating. The general image of humanity it portrays (not far from reality) can be a bit depressing.
