Hey there all. I'll try to keep things short.

I tried to partially hang myself wednesday. As I sometimes shed a tear listening to my favorite music, for an hour straight I would pull down, my ears would get more 'silent'(is this supposed to happen?), and my head would swallow/would feel hot and blown up(hard to describe). Then I'd pussy out.

I'm a fucking failure. I didn't get close at all. I now ask for your advice on these couple of questions:
-Is sound getting more 'silent' a sign that I'm getting closer to passing out or not?
-How do I push myself to continue! To actually pass out, to be free(?)?
-Once I pass out, is it over or can I wake up again?

Sorry for the weird post. I had been waiting to post this for a couple days now. I felt really lonely without you people. I'm glad the forum is back though.

Sorry :-(

I always thought things going quieter was a good sign, other than that, sadly just that when it is the time you won't have that fear, or at least i never had.

Selfishly i am glad to still see you..

You are not a failure, 21Neberg. This is a hard method simply because the survival instinct and the fear of the unknown are really, really strong for some of us with this method.

Perhaps, you haven't had your favorite pizza yet. Maybe it's time to still find some Earthly enjoyments before trying to leave again.

Personally, I doubt this method is painless at all. I feel that a person needs to be to push through a significant amount of pain with this one, and for that to happen, desperation and hopelessness have to be at pretty much 100%

That's just my take on it. I am happy you're still with us.

Thank you for your input, and for the nice words. I'm set on trying again, but I guess it's a failed attempt before I start because my desperation isnt at 100%

@21Neberg you are Not and never will be a failure. Ever.

This just wasn't your time. For whatever reason, this wasn't the time for you to go. That's the weird thing - sometimes you can read news articles and someone has just literally hanged themselves in five minutes in a barn with a piece of string - well it MUST have been their right time to go otherwise things wouldn't have happened.

When you're time is right. Things will be. Until then I'm glad to have you around a bit longer ❤️

It's really harder than one would think, even if the absolute desire is there like it is for me. I found the method where you sort of slowly slide back on your heels towards a sitting positions feels the easiest for me, and also a belt seems like it would hurt.. I'm using bedsheet twisted into a rope which seems like a good balance between rope and something too soft.. I know it will do the trick but yes you could potentially wake up only if it snaps within probably 30 minutes. This is the part that gives me anxiety.. I wish there was just an instant way for me to do it.

I didn't succeed last night too, so you're not alone
It really is super hard to push through, i pushed harder than i had before cause i was having a small mental breakdown but quickly chickened out once i realized how tight the rope was
Suicide isn't easy, and you're not a failure or a coward for not being able to go through with it yet. Wishing you best of luck

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, 21Neberg. Maybe you could try tweaking your method and keep trying till you succeed or try another method you have access to. Whatever you choose to do, I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you find peace.

P.S. That survival instinct can be difficult to overcome, unfortunately.

It's not going to take 2:36:57 of stateist garbage for me to learn how to properly hang myself I'd make it 10 minutes tops and stab my brain out with my thumbs (through my eyes)

From my experience, you were very close to it... everything becoming silent means your close to death. When I nearly drowned in a pool, all the noises stopped and I felt truly at peace, I was very close to dying and passed out while being under. Your not a failure, it's just the odds were not in your favor.

I have heard many stories of near death experiences resulting in an unbelievably blissful, peaceful and care free state. I really hope this is what happens when we die and not just a product of the unconscious mind. Fingers crossed, I want my peace.

Thank you for the answer to my question. It makes me feel a little bit better knowing I got close, at least. I don't have time to try again in the near future, as I don't want to be found but I will use this weeks experience to hopefully succeed next time.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that experience. You don't have to brand yourself as a failure.

There is always a chance that you will wake up again after trying. Only you know how you should proceed. I suggest to give yourself time.

I have had several near death experiences and they were all the same. Everything would turn pitch black, I would slowly hear all sounds fading until there is complete silence, felt as carefree and happy as I have ever been in my life.... the weight I had been carrying for so long was lifted and I felt lighter. Some people say they see a white tunnel, and they are greeted by relatives/love ones that have past, or angel or etc.... I guess it depends on the individual and their beliefs. In the moments before my death, I did not want to be saved and accepted being thrown into the abyss of nothingness. It truly was utter bliss, but like everything good has to eventually come to an end I would reawaken and the darkness would be illuminated by a white light and I would take a deep breath and be forcefully brought back to this shit of existence. To me there was no pain nor suffering, you could compare it to sleeping except you feel an immense happiness and calmness.

My understanding is that when you feel that intense pressure in your head, its because your jugulars are being compressed not your carotids. The jugulars drain blood from your brain, so when compressed blood builds in your brain. The carotids feed blood to the brain, so the idea is to compress these and starve the brain of blood. Not sure how to achieve this correctly, but those are the mechanics.

Sounds similar to many accounts I've heard and researched... You may like this as I've noticed you to be quite interested in afterlife/NDE(hard not to be):
