I have nobody to accompany myself with except my emotionally abusive shitbag of a father. And somehow i have to convince him to let me get a pet

i would prefer something easy to take care of and VERY affectionate. So far I've had parakeets and hamsters, and both of them were horrifically boring

Many cats can be very affectionate. If you like cats and are not allergic to them they make great easy to care for pets. There are plenty that need loving homes. I would suggest a dog because they are affectionate but they are definitely not as easy to care for. I have a dog and being as depressed as I am i regret getting him because I feel like I can't offer him enough. Plus dogs can be very hyper high energy.

I believe I am allergic to cats. Is there such thing as a hypoallergenic cat?

Yes there is. I'm actually allergic to cats myself but certain kinds didn't flare up my allergies. There was a list of hypoallergenic ones read about. In my personal experience lighter colored cats didn't bother me. My ex had a light creme colored cat and I spent time around an orange tabby and neither bothered my allergies. Now darker colored cats definitely bothered my allergies especially black cats (sadly). There was an article I read one time about the scientific reason darker colored cats cause allergies.

My puppy is hypoallergenic and would be excited to meet you! ^_^ He will fall in love with you approximately three seconds after sniffing you and will insist on snuggling with you and kissing your nose for longer than you thought was possible.

you're so incredibly fortunate to have something that loves you unconditionally and doesn't treat you like a retard or a blight on society

What made you think of a pet, specifically? Do you have a particular fondness for animals?

Rats! Depending on what you get, they're a bit of a lottery. I've had six rats, all very adorable and loving. The only downside is that they only live for a short amount of time and there's a higher chance of them acquiring respiratory illnesses which need medication for the rest of their life. Oddly enough only my albino rats had them, and one ended up dying from it very rapidly. It's usually a long term progression.

Aside from that, cats. Just make sure your father isn't the pet abusing type before you introduce a furry friend into the home, please.

It sounds kind of gross but I've heard rats actually make good let's. They are pretty intelligent, caring, and loyal, plus easier to take care of then a dog for example

I would recommend a bunny. I'm an only child, super anti social and don't like to talk to my family or anyone really. I don't like talking at all. I got a bunny and he's really awesome and pretty similar to me actually. He makes me happy and I'm glad I got him. He's one of the reasons I won't ctb yet. I do have depression tho so I would definitely not be able to take care of more animals then him so keep that in mind.

As someone who loves loves loves all 4 of my bunchkins, rabbits are amazing pets, but they can be a little high maintainance. At the very least, they do require some knowledge to care for them properly. They usually do better in pairs as well. My first bunny was visibly depressed until I got him a girlfriend. They need space to hop around every day outside of their cage. They're very curious and will get into and chew everything you hold dear, so you need a somewhat bunny-proofed space. They have sensitive digestive tracts and must always have access to hay, and preferably some fresh vegetables most days, along with pellets. I had two bunnies die when I was younger from digestive problems, so its not something to take lightly. There's more, but all that info is online.

All that said, they're wonderful pets if you have the time for them. They are never boring in my opinion. Theyre so smart, curious, and just adorable all the time. Some are more affectionate than others. One of mine will snuggle with me for the longest time and another one will let me hold her briefly, but mostly wants her independence. The other two are in the middle.

My cat on the other hand, is all snuggles, all the time and super low maintenance. She's right up against me right now annoyed that I'm not petting her constantly. A cat might be more along the lines of what you're looking for if you want easy.

In my country there's an extremely venomous species of cobra. I'd like to have it as a pet.
