May 10th is my nephew's first communion, as an atheist the only thing I care about is being next to him in an important date... but I can't, my agoraphobia and my general anxiety is killing me (literally) I dont want to tell my sister about this cuz she already has no patience when I talk about my anxiety. People dont understand why im still not over it (ive been having this issue for more than 10 years)... this celebration triggers my anxiety in so so many ways, and as it approaches I learn more things that make me go in full panic mode... a crowded car, 1h30mins of religious talk in a crowded church, photos... why do I have to ruin everything? I cant stop crying, im gonna hurt myself I want to kill myself, this is no life, there is no happiness im sick of this...

Also in the UK here

The crisis team contacted me after I told a GP I was depressed and couldn't see the point of living

When they call - avoid saying anything about actually planning to CTB - or hurt anybody else obviously

You can say you're depressed but ask them to leave you alone. And they will

Just don't say you've done any planning or preparation for CTB or you might well get a visit as well

Ditto if you do get a visit. Just politely confirm to them that you're no harm to yourself or anybody else

Don't lose it or break down

Mental health services for adults are virtually non existent in the UK so they won't commit you unless you're a serious risk

There's more provisions for those under 16 though

So sorry you are feeling that, I go through that too and specially at events. Any kind. Learning of the things in anticipation does add to the dread but it's better than doing so once there, that's when I melt at least. You've got some days to prepare yourself mentally. The fact that despite all that a part of you is pushing you to go does mean you care a lot about your nephew and family. Also sorry you are not getting much support from your sister and those around you, that is crucial so I get why it would be quite an awful experience if you have to push through it alone. I ran out of my best friend's graduation and melted at a wedding in front of people, awful then, a w f u l, but in retrospect not worth dying for, now. Then I did want the earth to swalow me, so I hope if you go you can get through with it easier than other times at least. Lots of hugs <3
