I burden the people around me, and I'm not saying that as some cliché "everyone would be better off without me" kind of thing. I mean I can visibly see the weight I put on people. I see the exhaustion, the frustration, the way my problems become theirs too. I see how much energy it takes to deal with me, reassure me, or worry about me.

Sorry, but 100% disagree with you.

YOU ARE a loving soul, read what you wrote, as you care so much about others, so darn nice and refreshing!

I mention my age of 70, as I have a lifetime of experience in both personal and business and I have seen so many greedy, self-centered and egotistical people, that you are the complete opposite of that.

You ARE family to me here and reading your post brought back memories of such crappy people that I have had to deal with and then seen you is a breath of fresh air.

I took away from your post just how caring, loving and thoughtful you are and believe me that is a rarity in this dog-eat-dog world.

Hugs and sunny blue skies to you my good friend and this site would never be the same with YOU.

Walter

So, one of my good friends self-harmed and attempted suicide three times. She is wonderful and exhausting at the same time. But I wanted to drive over to her house and let her fall asleep on my shoulder so she wouldn't self-harm. And through all of that she set me up with my ex-girlfriend which was a debt (good) that I cannot repay enough.

You being self-aware speaks well of you. Just know that the good people in your life want to help you and give them some mercy when they get tired.

Ive been seeing this myself for so long... when I was way younger I would say that the moment I became a burden and/or start hurting people I would kill myself, and then I realized Im a coward because that moment arrived and Im still here, and still hurting people... the truth is things like depression, anxiety, etc. never run out of patience, is always there, people DO run out of patience, and is exhausting having us around... Im still struggling with this myself so idk how I can help but before my mom basically killed herself I would listen to her, she would cry, scream, pour on me every horrible thing she thought, it did make me feel worse, im sure that it did affect me, but god Im glad I listened to her because she would feel so much better after and actually started being kind of positive after venting, and now that i dont have her anymore Im so fucking glad I heard her, because I loved her so much it hurt, and because I loved her whenever she called even if I was laughing and I knew that call would make me cry, I would pick up the phone and make her feel heard, to me thats love, so sometimes I think that if you really love me why you cant lend me a shoulder, an ear, something so I dont feel so alone? even if it hurts you, how can people live without knowing whats wrong with their loved ones?

Hope you feel a way to live with this, or not, Im sorry im not much help.

I feel this so hard. I've seen firsthand how much my being depressed and suicidal ruined some of my friendships early on before I became more self aware. Now I bottle things up and I don't tell anyone anything. When I do finally get the courage to tell my mom what I've been going through she will just tell me to grow up and stop crying. I'm super alone now because I've practically isolated myself from the fear of bothering people with my problems and making them leave me. I've taken all the exhaustion onto myself I guess. Sending you love. I hope you're still able to rely on the people you have in your life. Like someone else mentioned, they wouldn't help you if they didn't want to, but showing grace for when they do get tired and reminding them how appreciated they are I think could go a long way. Part of the reason I avoid venting to people is because I don't know what they could also be going through. I also struggle with feeling selfish for just wanting to have someone help me and take a load off and care about me for once…
