Beachy Head. I was thinking what it is called. I couldn't remember. Is that near Dover? Not my area. Good point though.
Found it! Dover and Folkestone are across from Calais France where as Beachy Head is near Eastbourne UK across from Dieppe France. Now we all know. You are welcome! ❤ I didnt know and I got excited.... sorry not sorry.....

I'm surprised to learn you can see France from England. Apparently, if you're at the beach the horizon you're seeing is 32 km away. There's a much greater distance between England and France.

You'd just have to walk west a bit to Birling Gap then walk up. But yeah France isn't that near to there. They'd have to be at Dover, which of course has cliffs but I don't think are ideal.You don't start from the bottom of Beachy Head and climb up

Dude... we're neighbours ... coz that's what I see when I look out my window as well.
On a clear day at Dover you you can see France very clearly, the only place in England you can, and apart from Beachey Head the only place you could really CBT by cliff fall. I am considering it because I am local(ish) and too many guards at BH.
I was at Dover last year at that NT place overlooking the harbour. I could see France it was so cool.
I know some people disagree with me but I really don't feel like the patrols at Beachy head should even be a deterrent. If you are someone who is certain about ctb and are planning on getting there and jumping right off then there is literally zero that's going to get in your way. People are walking round there exercising or taking photos or whatever all the time. I hung about for a good half hour looking over the edge at twilight and no one blinked an eyelid.
I mean it's a reasonable stretch of road/ cliff they are patrolling. They can't be everywhere at once. I think maybe if you sit by the edge for a LONG period of time you may start to get attention.. but I can't stress enough I don't think the patrols are a big deal or should put anyone off. And even if they do approach you, just say you're taking photos of the lighthouse or something.
