Discussion I bought another rope.

I bought another rope. The exact same type and measurement from the same nautical supplier as the first one, suggested on our very own hanging megathread. However, not only did I lose the rope, I lost my perfect hanging spot. What I have to work with now is a 2nd floor apartment. This is the bannister overhanging the steps.

Would I be able to anchor a noose on this bannister (already checked, it supports my full weight) hang along the wall and have the hanging be successful? I also have a ceiling fan and I've seen a surprising amount of successful hangings happen with ceiling fans. There's also places for partial like closet rods and doorknobs but I really only trust full suspension.

I really need to go through with this hanging. I cannot withstand this life anymore. I fully committed to doing this in 2024 and I need to follow through. The rope arrives Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to me.

Green will be the strongest but less height.
Red has more height but looks weaker.

Tie it at the floor or wall. That puts the load as a sheer rather than torque.

Thank you! Hopefully I haven't gained too much holiday weight, as I tested it over the summertime by hanging with both my hands off of it and jostling it a little. It's sturdier than it looks! There's also an ideal place in the closet if I wanted to go with partial. Either way, it'll be hanging.

I wish I could say Merry Christmas and mean it but Psychiatry has destroyed me. Inpatient, outpatient, all of it. Literally sitting here and losing my hair from the drugs they have me on. It's been this way since I was a little kid so my life was pre-ruined. And even if it wasn't, who wants to look forward to a future in an AI Late Stage Capitalist Hellscape anyway? I'm ready to hang and I fully support anyone else who is too.

I actually weighed myself just to be safe lol. I weigh a buck 50. If I keep downing Christmas cookies though, I'm gonna have myself a failed attempt due to a broken railing so I'd better get myself under control.

Just make sure you do not drop. Ease into it.

I would be concerned about the steps allowing you to get your feet back under you. Leaning slightly to one side could give you pretty good footing. I would definitely hang where Worndown put the purple circle.
